Thanks for the link, c_e - I wouldn't have seen this otherwise. I remember watching the movies - Patty Duke played Helen and years later played Anne if I remember correctly. ? Inspiring women and a beautiful photo.

I have always been inspired by the story of Helen Keller and her teacher. I love the movie and read the play several times.

This photo is a wonderful find. The earliest picture known of Helen and Annie. They had a beautiful relationship.

I thought it was known that she was spoilt...?!?!? No, seriously... I don't mean that in a bad way but I thought her parents were wealty and gave her everything they could to try to make her happy and do things for her, and it was very hard on them!!! not when she was older but when she was little because they couldn't communicate with her they just gave her everything because she was easily frusterated. she could not see or hear though, and it was a hardship on them... i am not able to say what i thought I knew...
I think it was a beautiful picture. they are both beautiful women.

i thought it was also....it's one of the reasons Anne Sullivan had such a hard time with her at first....her parents, instead of trying to teach her anything, they coddled her & gave her whatever she wanted, as to not get her upset...this is what i gathered from books & the movie, anyway......course back then, i guess folks didn't really think you could teach a child like Helen....
when i first saw this picture, it literally took my breath; couldn't stop staring at it....
