Maybe there needs to be some oversight on the funds being sent to these countries to ensure it's being used for its intended purpose. I wonder if the govt in these highly affected countries are as concerned for their population as the monetary donors are. It would not be the first time political issues held up much needed aid. IIRC, it was not long ago that a handful of aid workers assisting Ebola patients were killed by members of the population they were there to help. There's a lot of distrust of aid workers/outsiders, as well as disregard for instructions on how to keep from spreading the virus.
ETA: My point being, it would be ideal if the govt/humanitarian aid groups/population could all be on the same page and have the same purpose=Saving lives and stop the spread.
What a ridiculous assertion. Are you insinuating that if the current hot spot was in Dallas that all the other states would be perfectly fine with people flying in and out of their airports from Dallas, or cramming into their hospitals just because they are American's?AS you can tell, many citizens in my country suffer from severe xenophobia......unfortunately, like ebola, there is no vaccine for it. It is sold to people who have moved from Africa and want "food from home". Just like when I moved to Alaska, i missed the spicy food here (I do not eat seafood so I did not miss that, lol). To them it is what they were raised on, they may believe some of it has medicinal properties or some special significance. Just as Rhinos are killed for the "magical" properties in their horns, so some believe that the meat of certain animals has some purpose or is their version of comfort food.
I can understand them eating it over there when it may be the only option but to illegally bring it over here is another one all together. So it seems ebola may not come to another country inside a human host's body but may be hidden in their luggage as a great amount of the meat confiscated comes from individuals just bring a treat from home to share, I guess as a present. Most guest do like to give their hosts a gift. But i agree, this is gross and i would not eat it. heck, I live in Louisiana and do not eat fish, crab, crawfish and all that stuff. I think it is gross.

I saw many of them but was on my phone and didn't respond. I know what it was in reference to.Some stuff was removed earlier, so you might be seeing the post a bit out of context.
A lot of people living in West Africa. The bats are for them a "delicatessen". That is one of the main reason why Ebola breakouts are happening. The bats, among other bush animals, are hosts of the Ebola virus.
I know all this, I just didn't realize it was black marketed in France and U. S. I think about that man on t.v. that eats all these weird dishes and loves them. I did however read that he gotten ill on one of the shows from eating some thing. jmo
