"We're just gathering as a community and knocking on doors, passing out his picture and the information just to see if anybody has seen the Chevy Traverse or him," he said.

People have been sharing his image on social media.

"Membertou is a very, very tight knit community and we care deeply for each other. So we're just here as a community and knocking on doors in other communities and looking for a friend."

Cape Breton Regional Police say anyone with information on Christmas's whereabouts can call 902-563-5151. Anonymous tips can be shared with Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and online.

Edwin Christmas is a single father of six, and his kids range in age from five to 16 years old. [snip] ...a hardworking family man who has spent over 20 years as a commercial fisherman.

He said Edwin's cell phone was last pinged in Eskasoni First Nation, about 40 kilometres southeast of Membertou, around 11 a.m. on Aug. 10 and that a search has swept the area. R. C. said the Big Pond area in Cape Breton has also been swept.

MEMBERTOU — The brother of Edwin Christmas says it’s completely out of character for the missing Membertou man to disappear without a trace.

“He has six children who he loves very deeply, he’s a hard-working fisherman and he’s never done this before,” said Roddy Christmas, whose 39-year-old sibling has been missing for almost three weeks.

On Sunday, Christmas joined about 150 other concerned family members, friends and others for a walk to raise awareness about the mysterious disappearance of Edwin Daniel Christmas. Prior to the walk, Membertou elder Viola Christmas led the gathering in a series of prayers. Then led by a police escort, the “Bring Edwin Back Home” walk made its way through the First Nation as the sound of beating drums reverberated across the community.
