Electronic cigarette explodes, badly injures user

Why would anyone modify their e-cig? Do you know?

(Or is this the sort of disinformation insurance companies are paid to disseminate?)

Hi Nova! :-)

People change them up to get a stronger "throat hit." Or to have the charges last longer. Or just because they have to tinker, I suspect. Hubby and I are using e-cigs after quitting tobacco. It is going great! I talked about it in Confessions of a Smoker thread, so won't repeat whole story. It really seemed complex at first but just as easy as making coffee now. No big.

I would never mess with my Bud Sapphire!

I personally feel it is a brilliant alternative and much much safer than smoking.

I wish I didn't have any vices, but alas, I do. This one is much better than its predecessor. We are works in progress, I guess.

We are indeed works-in-progress, my friend. Good for you and your husband!

Do e-cigs help you quit eventually or do you just transfer your nicotine addiction to a safer delivery system? Either way, good for you. I'm just wondering...

Don't know yet. Idea was to eventually eliminate it, of course. But my concern is day to day still, at this point. Have to admit, "vaping" is quite enjoyable. You can get juice with any level of nicotine, including 0. So you can taper off. Will keep ya posted.

No smelly clothes
Can breathe again
No burned upholstery
Fresh clean car
No shame (can stealth vape - lol!)

So, all good. We'll see.

I gave up cigarettes two weeks ago and use an ecig. I used to smoke throughout the day but I am finding that I only miss the cigs in the evening. That's when I use the ecig.
I am enjoying being a non smoker but am aware that I have given up three times in the past (three pregnancies and breastfeeding) and started again.
I use the VIP ecig and I have finally got the hang of it now

one of the things i found out with my e-cig is many times when i get the urge i don't even need to smoke it. when i start feeling it come on, just holding the cig and is enough. of i take a hit first then just hold it...and i'm fine.

People, people! Let's not do anything rash!

I kid. I also quit smoking once Chicago went outside only some years back. Cold turkey was much easier than I anticipated. But you will pry the wine from my cold, dead hands. :D

I tried but even the patches do not work for me so I just turned rebellious . Still smoke but use the e-cigs when in the car or even Chicago allows them inside a few movie Theaters.

FDA has been trying to find a way to make ecigs illegal or this is all a ruse to TAX the heck out of them. MOO

The patches won't work unless you really, REALLY want to quit. (And maybe not even then. I'm not pretending to be an expert on your body chemistry.)

I mentioned I quit about 18 months ago out of medical necessity. (I'm fine, but I really needed to stop tempting fate.)

For about a month afterwards, I would remove my patch at the end of the day and smoke one cigarette. Then I realized I was just being childish and rebelling against the fact that I didn't feel I was quitting of my own volition. Once I accepted that it was indeed my own choice to live or die, I cut out even my one-smoke-per-day habit.

PLEASE NOTE: I am just sharing my experience. I am NOT saying you are childish or that any of the above is necessarily true for you.

Lol at your disclaimers.

I swear I wasn't trying to be diplomatic. People do have differing reactions to nicotine and other substances, and I wanted to acknowledge that.

And just because my "part-time" smoking was childish is no reason it's childish for everyone else. I've known people who smoked a cigarette now and then, even with their doctor's approval, since they had no tendency toward addiction and no desire to go beyond a smoke or two a day.

But in my case, I know from bitter experience that one cig per day sooner or later leads to two, three, four cigs and, before you know it, I'm back to two or more packs per day. So smoking "just one" is really silly for me to do.

On the other hand, no matter how much alcohol I consume, I can quit at any time without feeling any craving for it. I'm just lucky in that regard, I guess, and I recognize that for some people even one drink leads to disaster.
