Elisa Baker - Life Before Adam

I don't know why I find it interesting that according to EB and AY's divorce papers that AY states that he and EB resided together until on or about 5/29/08 and that Brittany S had written on her MySpace blog on 5/12/08 that her mother had already left the country to be with her 'lover'. Obviously the dates must be a little off on one...but I hadn't realized that EB didn't even begin to let any grass grow under her feet at all before she literally jumped from one husbands house to another..I believe that she was well on her way to #8 or #9...I've lost track of her husbands or pretend husbands..whatever they were...

The blurred out name on the divorce paper sure does not look like AY's first name nor does the last name.

Umm-you are absolutely right. Why put your self out there, present the papers and blur out your name? :waitasec:

Are the divorce papers not his or does he have alias' too? Hmmm.

I'm pleased to see that we are finally permitted to discuss this topic. I haven't had the time to read through all of the many threads on this topic, so please forgive me if the three observations I am making below have been already covered.

Firstly, although the divorce papers stated that AY and EB resided together until on or about 5/29/08, AY clearly stated on Facebook on 11 November that they had been separated for 3 years. Thus, Elisa didn't leave Aaron to go to Australia.

Secondly, Queensland's CRIMINAL CODE 1899 - SECT 360 reads:

"(1) Any person who--

(a) being married, goes through the form of marriage with any other person during the life of his or her wife or husband; or
(b) goes through the form of marriage with any person whom he or she knows to be married;
is guilty of a crime, and is liable to imprisonment for 7 years."

Therefore, in answer to a previous question, Adam can be charged with bigamy in Australia if he knew that Elisa was already married, even if he himself was single at the time.

Thirdly, my legal mind cannot but help ponder the possibility that Elisa did not commit bigamy when she married Adam. If in fact she wasn't divorced from her 1997 marriage to Jeffrey Russell Allred when she married Aaron in 1998, then that would surely void her marriage to AY. Thus, she may well have committed bigamy by marrying AY, but not in fact by marrying AB. This of course assumes that she was divorced from JRA before she married AB. I am assuming also that somewhere along the line her 14 September 1985 marriage to Jerry Winkler was legally dissolved. I read that their divorce was granted on 29 January 1986, but I query whether that is correct given that it is less than five months after their wedding! What a tangled web!

If you flip the doc upside down, the blurred out name looks likes AY imo.

The divorce papers just seem so "unofficial" with the names written in, whereas normally they are typed in.

It's clear the first name for the "plaintiff" is an F and the middle name is a "M" and I can't quite see a "Y" for the last name. It appears that the original line under the "plantiff's name is not there, like it is under Elisa's name. The line that does show up is slated down and is only partially there. IMO, this is a "cut and paste" of a different name over the name that was orginally there. No court would "cut and paste" in names.

How in the world would a court grant a divorce to a person whose name does not even match the marriage certificate? I would think that the divorce records would show the names on the marriage certificate.

This makes no sense to me whatsoever, and why would the media put out a document in this manner?

LOL Patty, nothing in this case is what it appears to be on the surface it seems..we're all going to be raving lunatics before it's over...

A tangled web in every way with no shortage of deception...I can't even begin to understand how anyone can live such lies..much less begin to understand what Zahra must have had to deal with daily...

Just because I'm curious, I'm going to find my own divorce papers to see if they look so 'unofficial'..I know it's SC vs NC, but the courts are almost identical..I imagine the paperwork is very similar as well....

Have we found the marriage records for them in Cherokee, South Carolina?

Not yet but I have looked for a inexpensive database, marriage records present a problem of being county searches and I'm not finding a searchable database for Cherokee yet.

I'll say this, Ridgeland SC is known for get a marriage license and get married the same day. Don't know about the rest of SC. I just know a good portion of a bigamist I've researched before used this courthouse. Home of the quickie wedded bliss.

S.C. isn't known to be as in touch database wise for records yet.

Patty, I'm in SC..not NC..but I just went and dug up my divorce papers and on the final divorce decree the names are typed in, but on my legal separation papers (which they didn't have...and didn't have to have since they had no children together, etc) everything is hand written just like on these of AY's. ..and I honestly believe they are his and EB's..any reporter could have gotten a copy of the decree, it's all public record..AY wouldn't have had to give it to them..just sayin..

Thanks you, just saved me from joining those this case has driven to lock themselves in a padded room where they can sit staring into space while rhymically rocking back and forth and flipping the lower lip with an index finger....

I guess courts just don't go to the trouble of making divorce papers look like more than an afterthought. Mine (from the UK) look like something a person with absolutely NO office skills whatsoever could have thrown together, the only official-looking thing about them is the court stamp and even that looks something you could make with a basic rubber-stamp kit.

Peli..I am from Charlotte NC, but was only 15 and pregnant when I got married. We HAD to come to SC to get married because you can't get married in NC until you are 16 with or without parental permission. Also, in SC you only have to wait 24 hrs after getting a marriage license and have to have no blood work done, etc. like you do in NC. Certain cities in SC are known for their wedding chapels and quicky weddings..York, SC..Dillon, SC...many people come here (or used to for that very reason) :croc:..

Here is a great link that I've used for many years for court records search in SC..from most you can find your way to other records as well...

It was brought to my attention that I should turn the paper upside down, of which I did, which shows AY's name is on the paper. The cut and paste was done to flip his name upside down for whatever reason.

I did check my divorce papers also, and mine is typed with no children out of that married. I guess it all depends on each jurisdiction and how they handle their paperword.

Morning Ms teh, since you asked. In the brides search field using the last name F or maiden name. Has this one been brought to light?

I only have interest in this subject because I'm aware of identity issues of anyone using different last names.

http://rod.co.burke.nc.us/Marriage/SearchEntry.aspx?e=newSession

That one is a big stretch and very unlikely to be EB IMO. There are a lot of people in NC with the same last name as her maiden name. It's not that uncommon. She doesn't seem to have varied from her given first and middle name in any of her marriages.
