Personally, I think it is possible. I have not been down that way recently. The area behind the path is wasteland and fairly sure the temporary fences are still there, which can be blown or pushed over.

Someone noted the CCTV has been improved in the area, so I am not sure what cameras there are now and how far they cover.

To me, it is an area where criminal/drug activity would take place. Also due to easy access to the main roads out of Aberdeen.

The hospital with A&E is completely the other direction from their flat. It’s approx 25 min walk the other way. I am convinced they would know that.
I think its fair to assume that they had lived long enough in Aberdeen to know where the A&E is.

If the ladies had got into a car already parked in the industrial area, they could have waited in it before they drove away. For hours and hours. After all they weren't even reported missing at that point.

I believe after the CCTV that shows the sisters walking down to the river path, the next CCTV is at the boathouse.

If they did cut through the industrial area they would come out on the South Esplanade West road. Is there CCTV on that particular road? If so, it would surely have picked up a vehicle moving away from the area in the early hours of 7 January.

I read in an online newspaper article that one of the sisters worked at Costa Coffee, Eliza I think. She had finished work at 1pm on Monday and had then gone on two weeks leave.
Apologies as I have been unable to find the article again to link to it.

FOUND IT
Annual Leave
So Eliza went off on leave from work the day before they disappeared? This, together with telling their landlord they wanted to leave their tenancy, indicates to me that the sisters had something planned for sure.

Perhaps they were witness to something nefarious in the dark, free from CCTV footage industrial area, and taken at gunpoint?

Doesn't explain WHY they were out at that hour, in a dodgy area. Perhaps they came to that area for an illegal transaction themselves? MOO.

I imagine that the police have considered the possibility of the women cutting through the industrial area and checked all movements of people and traffic in and out of the area for hours before and after the last time the women were seen on cctv .

The businesses on South Esplanade West will definitely have CCTV. I am unclear if this would just cover entrances to their premises, or further into the road? I would assume some of the cameras would capture any vehicles that were passing.

Another local had stated the CCTV was recently upgraded in the area, so there may be other council installed cameras. The Wellington roundabout at the suspension bridge will surely have cameras and South Esplanade is one way, so I am fairly sure that would cover any vehicles entering the road.

I'm glad you were able to find it, I thought it would be deleted because you didn't have a source. Could it be she took time off to move, and settle into their new home, wherever that may be? Or a case of disconnecting from her usual life, so as not to draw attention to the fact they were missing?

Still. So. Many. Questions.

That's the crux of the matter though isn't it - if it's not a case of self-harm then why where they in that particular area in the early hours of the morning?

This to me makes it even more likely that they’ve chosen to disappear, it’s all so planned…bizarre

I can't take credit for finding it, i was replying to a post from @Kaypetta!

It would be good to know if Henrietta had booked leave from Costa Coffee as well.

Eliza worked at the Holiday Inn hotel in the centre of Aberdeen for around eight months. It was revealed she finished at 1pm and then went off on annual leave.

I agree so many questions. I believe personally that if suicide planned, you wouldn’t bother letting work know you were going on leave. I think they were possibly mixed up in something we have no clue about.

Being on leave would certainly mean not being missed for a while.

Other thing is that this was a relatively new job. Wonder what she was doing before?

I was wondering the same in respect of any possible cut throughs, informal footpaths etc that might be around that wouldn't be picked up by CCTV. Would anyone on here who is local know it that's feasible at all?

Yes, I visited the area yesterday, it's possible.

Yes, I visited the area yesterday and posted lots of photos in a chat room on here to confirm that it's possible. I'm new to this platform so I'm not sure how to add you to the other conversation thread! Can anyone who is in the other thread help to add more people?!
I'm on the other thread. Don't worry. I'm wondering just how easy it would be and how far they could have got before cameras would likely have picked them up.

Well, we have come up with every possible scenario, you would think, but we still don't actually have any idea what really happened! Except that as time goes by, and a few little details are revealed, I for one am becoming more and more convinced that they had carefully planned it. Whatever it was. Plus I have reached the stage where I would be surprised if their bodies are found.

That's the $64,000 question!
