I agree, the timing of the landlords movements seem to be more than coincidental. There must have been a trigger of some sort for the landlord to visit their flat on the day of their disappearance.
The "take it with a grain of salt" news outlet.
We don't know the timeline on the back and forth messages.

'The Hungarian twins who mysteriously disappeared in Scotland did something strange the day before they disappeared'

"Perhaps the most disturbing turn of events, however, is what was recently reported by the landlord of the apartment where Eliza and Henrietta lived. The day before they were to set off on the path along the river, from which they have not emerged since, they terminated their lease."

“They sent me a letter saying they wanted to terminate the contract,” the landlord said. “After exchanging a few messages, I went to the apartment in person to talk to them, but they were gone.

The girls' disappearance was also reported to the police by the landlord. After investigators entered the apartment, they found their belongings intact, and they had not taken anything with them, which would have indicated that they had gone on a longer trip."

Before the police have reported it as fact they have seen the evidence.
Unfortunately, in this case there are few facts. NDR

I don’t really feel like the bag is questionable just like the phone . I think that’s just personality stuff which still happens even if you are suicidal. We are creatures of habit and if we’re used to taking a bag then we’re probably going to take a bag.
From the CCTV still picture the sister on the left is clutching something in her right hand. But what is it?

Minimum wage for a 35 hour week is £20.820 . So if they both worked a 35 hour week they would be earning over £40.000.
Less around £5k for NI and Tax to get to take home pay. Its enough to save something.

Could they have been fleeing from their home with only the clothes on their back because they felt in danger in their home??
Maybe they were being stalked?
Maybe a dangerous bf?
Maybe <modsnip - not a POI> or someone was stalking them and saying weird stuff and popping up on them, causing concern enough to decide to vacate their home immediately and make it look (to a stalker!) like they had vanished?
Genuinely perplexing.

For locals, is that right that if you continue to walk along that footpath it will take you to the Wellington Bridge and the A956 out of Aberdeen? Is it possible they walked back up to the highway after the camera footage wasn't able to see anything else? Maybe got picked up there in a vehicle?
The police seem certain they didn't emerge out the other side of the path so there must be a CCTV camera there that they didn't appear on.
I think I will visit the site in the next couple of days and check if there are gaps in the fence that they could have squeezed through to exit the path onto the commercial propertys. I'm sure it's not impossible.

I think it's a mitten. It looks like she is holding her phone in the other hand.

Thanks for confirming and reminding me that detail :) I am in and out of this thread but trying to follow!

Are there any other modes of transport they could've 'snuck' to undetected? Bus stops? I guess if they didn't emerge from that spot it's not likely....

If you venture down to the site, would love an update and your thoughts/ideas. So so strange this case.

I was wondering what it was, it looked like a round object to me, but now you've said it I can see it might be a mitten.

Her other hand looks like it's in her pocket to me.

Only the one on the right is carrying a bag, and it looks quite large to me.

If(!) that's accurate initial contact was via a written letter. Not clear what format the subsequent exchange of messages were in. Bit odd if you want to terminate immediately that you'd choose the slowest form of communication to sort it out. If there was an exchange of messages the contents of those might be revealing. I'd guess the landlady would have asked why they wanted to leave in a hurry.

If true and they did end their lives I can't get my head around the Dee River being the way they chose to carry it out.
Why didn't they jump off the bridge they crossed?

There’s local authority CCTV on the main road just up from Wellington Bridge on Wellington Road near the Tesco/Halfords. So they would have been spotted going up there.

Or correct me if i'm wrong, is there an embankment on the other side of the river they could have gone now - it might not have been a path, but wild to walk past that, walk over the bridge (they could have jumped from) and turn down that path.

I'm still trying to figure out why the landlord first contacted the police.
I find that bizarre.

I'm too behind to correct anything about this case.
We're fortunate to have locals posting so hopefully info will be forthcoming.

Look closer (left hand) initially I thought she was shielding her face, but now I think she is talking on the phone.

I wonder if they left their passports behind in the flat or if the police have found them?

It is not a mitten. She is clutching something in her right hand. Otherwise she has an incredibly large right hand which I doubt very much.

I can only assume when she got there it was obvious something was up rather than them just having gone out. Or perhaps the exchange of messages had already raised concerns?
