"The ... murder cold case in the county is that of 16-month-old Elizabeth Gelineau, who died Dec. 11, 2005 in Georgetown Township. The toddler’s death was ruled a homicide due to severe head injuries.

The toddler was living with her mother, her mother’s boyfriend and the mother’s grandparents. Gelineau’s father, John Gelineau, pleaded no contest to child abuse of his daughter when she was 11 days old. He served 90 days in jail, then the toddler’s mother, Rachel Gelineau, served him with divorce papers.

The medical examiner ruled the toddler died of new injuries, including fractures to her head and she had facial bruises. John Gelineau, the toddler’s father, did not have access to the toddler at the time of her death, according to police.

In a 2015 interview with WOOD-TV 8, Elizabeth Gelineau’s great-grandfather, with whom the toddler was living at the time of her death, said the girl’s death was not a murder...She’s in heaven with Jesus..."

The mother's boyfriend immediately raises suspicion, although I have nothing to base it on other than having read other cases where stepparents or the significant others of a parent turned out to be involved in a child's murder or disappearance.

The grandfather's words are somewhat suspicious too. His full statement when asked was: “She’s in heaven with Jesus...We know that she’s in the hands of Jesus and we know that we didn’t do anything”. People don't usually speak in such pointed terms; it's unusual, for certain. I feel the family knows more than what they are letting on.
