Updated at 7:26 p.m.: Recovery operation underway at Lake Estes — SLIDE SHOW

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, there was a call out for a water rescue/search incident at Lake Estes.

According to Estes Fire Protection District (EVFPD) Public Information Officer, Mike Richardson, ” A pontoon boat with four young adults on board had a male in his 20s go overboard. A search operation is currently underway, trying to triangulate the young man’s position, but it is proving difficult with the water currents.”

...

The search is now considered a recovery, not a rescue operation. A Larimer County Sheriff’s Department Investigator is on the scene with three deputies. The Sheriff’s Department has taken over the investigation.

Yes, he was out on lake with 1 male and 2 female friends from the Boulder area. I read somewhere that he fell off pontoon boat and it sounded like he didn't resurface. So tragic! The lake is not that deep either. :(

Well, learned something new. Lake Estes is up to 45 feet deep. That is deeper than i thought. That may be depth right at Olympus Dam if i had to guess...
45 feet

"Lake Estes has a capacity of 3,068 acre-feet, 185 surface acres, 5 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 45 feet."
