In Britain, a german shepherd has escaped death row after his owner won a three-and-a-half year legal battle to save his four-legged friend.

'Dino' the dog was put under a destruction order in 2001 after he bit a woman as she tried to break up a fight between the german shepherd and her pet terrier Ralph in a Northampton Park.

But Dino's owner, Bryan Lamont, appealed the findings on the grounds his dog was not vicious.

Since then, he has spent $150,000 fighting the judgment all the way to the top, the High Court, the House of Lords, even filing an application to the European Court of Human Rights to hear Dino's appeal.

Eventually a review was granted.
