EVIDENCE - Pro and Con #2

There is a video floating around of a flash mob in MB on 'The Strip' hitting up a beach shop and beating up pedestrians. This happened this past Friday night. Has anyone seen a word about that in the "news"papers? No wonder we can't find out anything about Heather, Amber or Brittney. Burroughs & Chapin keep allot of the negative things out of the public eye. I worry about my kids and let them know this stuff is going on. My daughter insisted we go to BATB last night because we haven't gone in a long time (prefer Barefoot Landing) - BATB makes me sad thinking of this saga being played out there.

Living in CLT, I have friends/co-workers and acquaintances who travel to MB often. 2 of my friends were there this past wknd on separate trips and neither mentioned it. I refuse to go to MB for many reasons (I'm a beach snob, I prefer the west coast of FL where my family lives) but mainly b/c of the crime rate! I can't justify putting myself in that sort of danger. I feel for the locals and people who have lived there their whole lives. It's sad when your community and home are known as "Murder Beach" :(

Can you please link the video? Thanks in advance!

I can only find it on social media on a possibly controversial site. If our thread ever opens again or I see it somewhere else, I will post it.

Don't feel for us; we're fine. After all, we have the option to see the ocean everyday. ;)

About those crime rates...they're extremely inflated. The crime numbers are reported from the actual city limits of Myrtle Beach, which has an annual population of about 28,000. The mathematical problem comes in because of tourist season, a time when it's not unusual to have over 300,000 people in that same space on any given day. With the increasing population, comes increased crime. Only, the crime rate doesn't factor in those extra folks. The numbers are skewed. I'm not saying there aren't dangerous pockets of Myrtle Beach, but every city has those. As for the term, "Murder Beach," much like the term "Dirty Myrtle," I don't know anyone actually from here who uses those terms. Just my :twocents:

Anyone know what's going to happen next week and if there will be hearings?

I take the lack of response to your question as a big fat question mark.

The Solicitor gave a vague answer back in March...

"The time in May won't go to waste," said 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson. "We will be meeting with the judge and the attorneys to handle motions. We hope to have a trial date after those hearings."

Not quite sure if they even know what they'll be doing either IMO. :blah:

I think and hope they do but since those two are out and free to read here, I won't voice my thoughts right now. Justice will be done for Heather sooner or later. She's in my prayers every day.
ETA: since this post is about evidence, I'm still very very curious about the financial papers found under the mattress at M's house. So curious...

Prosecutors and defense attorneys assigned to the Heather Elvis case will be back in Horry County circuit court next week.

The trial of Sidney and Tammy Moorer, who’ve been charged with murder, kidnapping and other counts in connection with Elvis’ disappearance, was originally scheduled to start the week of May 11.

But with the case continued to an unspecified date, attorneys will instead spend the time arguing a series of pretrial motions. The first hearings will get underway Tuesday, May 12.

At the time, reason for the delay was not provided, though Richardson said last week that some discovery motions remain to be heard.

BBM Interesting...any idea of what they could be?

The James Holmes trial was not moved out of Colorado so IMO, this trial will stay in Horry County.

Has there ever been a trial moved out of the state? Not counting ones in the federal court (like OKC Bombing Trial moved to Colorado). I have seen pretrial hearings where either side will argue the case needs to be moved out of state, so it seems like it is possible to do so, but i can't think of an example.

(BTW, I don't think there's any chance the Moorer trial will move out of SC, or either side will even argue for it...I am just curious if anyone knows any examples where that happened.)

Thanks for keeping me updated guys! I've been MIA and likely will be for a while... (I'll definitely be checking in from time to time though!).

The James Holmes trial is now underway and I've been so wrapped up in that case from the very beginning. Following along with the trial everyday has kept me busy.

Just moo but I don't think this is going to benefit the M's. I don't see any crowing on fb and no comment from their attorney? You know how they like to spin when they can.

Defense lawyers never argue to move a trial out of *state* (which would make no sense since it's the state that owns the case), just to another jurisdiction within the state, far enough away from the home town where the crime occurred, in the hope that a potential pool of jurors will not know much, if anything, about the case and they can tell the story their way to that pool of people.

For instance in the Scott Peterson case, the murder occurred in Modesto, CA and the trial took place in Redwood City, CA, about 2 hrs away.
