Nobody's heard from Weebles. Her son and his class were watching the marathon today. Some folks have pm'd her, but no response that I know of yet....

Prayers for her family, and all the families and friends affected.

Ok My Friends,

Thank you for your alerts. The graphic pictures have been removed.

Thank you for keeping on topic and alerting us rather than talking about problems on the thread. It helps more than you can imagine.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.

Take care,
Tricia

@TheMatthewKeys: Photo: Unclaimed bags at finish line of Boston Marathon following explosion (Mary Pilon/NY Times) - http://t.co/FrOttFatRf

Picture at link.

If I were a runner, under these circumstances, I would be afraid to try to reclaim my bag or wouldn't care if I ever saw it again.

I suspect you will see many of them abandon these items.

Three dead now, over 130 injured, according to Boston Globe :(

Please, please don't let that poor guy being helped by the man in the cowboy hat pass. I pray he isn't dead. That poor man helping him has had a horrific time of it himself the last few years. He obviously helped keep this poor guy alive.

Such an awful day.

Special, special prayers for the man being helped by Carlos Arredondo. Carlos lost his son in Iraq in 2007 and is a well known peace activist with his own pain. He is here for a reason.

Carlos is an amazing man. And that is an understatement.

It's so awful to think of happy healthy people out participating in a wholesome activity then the sudden horror of losing limbs. Words are enough for me.

Aviation authorities banned planes from flying over of the site of the explosion, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The temporary flight restriction came at the request of law enforcement and originally extended three nautical miles in all directions before being reduced to two. It reaches up to a height of 3,000 feet, FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac said. The agency ordered a brief ground stop at Boston's Logan airport but it did not last long.

Death Toll Now At 3

The death toll from the Boston Marathon blasts has risen to three, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis just announced in a news conference.
Also:
-- Davis said there is no suspect in custody at Brigham and Women's Hospital, as some media outlets had reported.
-- Boston "will be open" tomorrow, Gov. Deval Patrick just said, but there will be a "heightened law enforcement presence" in the city, such as random checks of backpacks on the MBTA.
-- The FBI has taken over this investigation.

I think what is getting to me is that they were out doing something they enjoy. I just don't have the words to explain how sorry I am for those who lost their lives or who were injured. This should not have happened!!

yeah, they are trying to get up close and personal with their victims now IE. a crowd of people on the ground. they know they cant get a bomb on a plane...they cant shoot missiles, because we will intercept. crowds are a prime target now....you can easily walk thru a crowd and cause mass destruction. cant easily walk thru a crowd with a big ol gun....everyone is super vigilant with guns and seeing one would raise alarm right away.

unfortunately, maybe this is a test. I hope im really wrong.

Unfortunately, I don't think you are wrong. :moo:

Carlos is an amazing man. And that is an understatement.

My DD has spoken of him several times and I had no idea that was the same man.

Special thanks, Gardenlady.

I have heard of up to 12 killed in the bombing. Most report 3 killed. Frankly, I think the death toll is likely to rise. I hope I do not offend anyone, if the death toll remains 3, it would be miraculous considering that the area was crowded and there a scene of blood and body parts.

HMSHood it does not offend me when you say the current death toll is miraculous considering the circumstances. We can give thanks for the living while still honoring the dead, imo. I read an ABC News story that said the death toll could rise post-surgery for some of the victims. Hoping that does not turn out to be the case.

Sending my thoughts to all the first responders, medical personnel, LE, volunteers, etc. In disasters and crises these men and women work until they drop, and then pick themselves up and work some more. They do God's work.

From Boston globe:

BPD Commissioner Ed Davis: At least three people have died. I want to stress one thing: There is no suspect at Brigham & Women's Hospital as has been widely reported. There are people we are talking to.
