It pains me that someone out there is taking joy in accomplishing their plan of terror...

Please, please don't let that poor guy being helped by the man in the cowboy hat pass. I pray he isn't dead. That poor man helping him has had a horrific time of it himself the last few years. He obviously helped keep this poor guy alive.

Such an awful day.
When I saw that pic I prayed for the injured man...plus I said a prayer for the man in the cowboy hat. I thought how brave he looked to be helping like he did when I realized he was not a medical person/LE. I think I also saw him in another pic and it appeared he was doing everything he could to help. The wounded man appears to be in shock, but the man in the cowboy hat appears to be in such agony. I am praying for all the people who will be traumatized and suffer after this.
I imagine there were many many acts of braveness and love towards one's fellow man shown today.

Thank you! Great article and pic! God Bless America!

Yes!

From Loretta Lynn's song:

God bless America again
you see all the troubles that she's in
Wash her pretty face dry her eyes and then God bless America again

I think about this song all the time.
We get roughed up, but God will wash our face, dry our eyes, and bless us again!

We always come back stronger.

Carlos Arredondo, who aided victims after explosions at the Boston Marathon, holds a bloodied American flag.

http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/e...ikes-boston-we-know-weve-been-here-before.ece

Carlos lost his son in Iraq several years ago. He is a well know peace activist. He himself was burned badly after learning of his son Alexander's death. He has also been beaten up pretty badly by counter protestors. Today he was a brave and comforting man to some poor soul. He's well loved already as is his wife. My DD said he's a chrismatic, gentle, kind man.

Prayers for Carlos. That had to be horrific for him.

I am very impressed with the Mass. General surgeon currently speaking to the press. Not impressed with the press though (do some of them use their ears/brains before opening their mouths..?)

I keep thinking about this picture posted by Raine and have shared it with a number of people, even those I know in the Intel community....

Listening to the scanner, a dispatcher mentioned someone wearing all black (black hoodie) and fleeing from the area of the explosion right before it happened....

grant it, the figure being so far away would come across as "dark"....and while a still photo never shows a true story of what is happening if watching it live.....what I see is there is no HURRY in their step which I find odd. their step looks to be a normal walk....

Dr. Fagenholz : yes we have performed amputations.

Dr.: this hospital has treated 29, I have operated on 6.

Dr.: there are 8 in critical condition.

Dr.: I am not taking care of any runners.

Dr.: a lot of small metal debris. Can't say what the metal is at this time. Place there intentionally or not.

Dr.: It's too early to say outcome for the patients. A number of patients will require repeat and consecutive surgeries.

Dr.: at least one with ruptured eardrums.

Dr.: They will be repeating exams tonight to check for any missed injuries (in reference to ruptured eardrums question).

Dr.: no pediatric patients at this hospital. Oldest patient he took care of was 71 yrs.

Dr.: He's never seen this volume of patients with these injuries.

Dr.: any traumatic amputation is gruesome but not unseen or unheard of in other places in the world.

Dr.: predominent injuries are vascular, bone and soft tissue injuries. One of his peers was deployed to Iraq and has stayed late to work.

Dr.: Will not directly comment on what patients may have said to him...he's just giving his own thoughts on treating patients. Some were conscious and some unconcious when arrived.

Dr.: None on first wave of patients had breathing tubes. The most severe injuries were lower extremity injuries.

Heard from a friend who's with one of the emergency crews -- he told me not to get too upset about reports of more suspicious devices and lockdowns around the area. Everybody is erring on the side of extreme caution and most of them are false alarms. Yes, they've detonated a bunch of suspicious devices, but most of them were probably lunches and people's after-marathon clothing. But they can't take the chance.

[Update, 8:55 p.m. ET] A Saudi national with a leg wound was under guard at a Boston hospital in connection with the bombings at the Boston Marathon, but investigators cannot say he is involved at this time and he is not in custody, a law enforcement official said Monday evening.

Why does the Saudi national keep coming up? The Saudis are our "allies". Very rich and influential allies.

That doesn't sound like media spin. I am sure there will be a good explanation.

Julia Gillard just held a press conference. I was on the phone at the time, but I thought I heard something about all Australians being accounted for (and none hurt)?

They also said again that the above number is a last resort number.

EDITING TO SAY:
The wording was that there are no reports of Australians being hurt. They did NOT say that all Aussies are accounted for. Sorry for the misinformation!!

Thanks fruity.:seeya:

DFAT said the Australian Consulate-General in New York is making urgent inquiries to determine whether any Australian citizens may have been involved in the explosions that have occurred at the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon local time.
Records on the Boston Marathon website reveal 153 entrants had registered for the event as Australian citizens.

#DFAT is trending on Twitter in Australia.

Melbourne in Australia is a sister city of Boston and it is tragic for them as well.

I live here in Boston and am completely devastated. I was born and raised here. For 57 years I have enjoyed and celebrated in so many of our history's annual festivities, such as the huge Fourth of July celebration, The Marathon, the Feast of St. Anthony and so many more.

Since 9/11 I have taken a huge sigh of relief as each Holiday celebration which brings thousands of people to celebrate in our wonderful city together, comes and goes without incident. I knew this day would come, but prayed to God that it Never would.

Dr. Drew and his guests tonight shared their pain and heartache about today's actions. They don't know how to deal with their grief and neither do I. Dr. Drew said be with your loved ones and keep them close tonight.

Well I am without loved ones and sit here in shock and horror, but foremost broken hearted that so many people are dying from senseless acts such as these each and every day.

I thank you all for giving me a "safe" place to be tonight. Here with people who understand and are loving and kind. Without family or friends who live close by, I am alone with my broken heart and thankful to be here with all of you.

I am so very honored to be part of such an amazing, loving, community such as this. Please pray for all of us here in Boston as we make our way through this tragedy.

xo to all
