You and me both, JerseyGirl. I should be in bed by now, but I can't stop refreshing the news sites. Can I pre-order a vat of double strength espresso for 6 a.m.?

About the little boy who passed away:

The boy, Martin Richard, was the son of William and Denise Richard of Carruth Street in Dorchester. His mother and sister are in the hospital with grievous injuries; a third child was unharmed.

It's being reported that the father of the man in the wheelchair (Jeff) found out about his son from the horrific photos on the news.

Why would they do this??

State Police ordering firefighters to shut off cell phones
If its a remote controled detonation switch a cellphone on the right frequency could set it off.

This is both a good thing and a bad thing. At least then he knew he was alive...but didn't know if he stayed that way.

While I was watching and seeing people walking around...

I thought "you know, some worried family members who can't get ahold of family could see their family okay on live TV."

But... on the other hand... they could see the horrific pictures... and realize that their child is seriously injured.

This definitely crossed my mind while the news was breaking.

Hi all,
Just getting here; can someone post up the "cliff notes"?
There was a 3rd bomb that was recovered unexploded, correct?
A residence nearby was raided by the feds?
The wheelchair guy is expected to survive?
Did anyone see the picture of Carlos Arredondo (sp?) w/ the wheelchair guy? I'm pretty sure that was his femoral atrery he was pinching closed. I'd post a link to the pic, but i'm afraid its too graphic.
Sorry for all the questions!

Here's a picture of the man laying on the ground when he fell after the explosion, no gore.

He was hit by debris from the blast and you can see the piece laying next to his left foot which he reportedly said it was metal like a coffee can.

Now look at the can laying in the road behind the cop on the right, he maybe right it's a coffee can. Look at it twice it's distorted most likely from the blast. Was it part of the actual bomb itself?...maybe.

PS... No I don't know what that black thing is between the two cops on the left.

I'm late to the discussion, so I don't know if this has been posted. They man in this photo is perfectly ok..had one scrape. His legs gave out due to the explosion and exhaustion. He was swiftly aided and is totally fine. Thank goodness!

IMO his going down was not exhaustion related and had everything to do with concussion of the blast and where he was in relation to it. Got a little discombobulated and may have been hit by a piece of flying debris as well.

Dude could run circles around me all day and into next Sunday. And then some. He is for certain one of the lucky ones.

Morning friends,

I am in MA so it is not a Good Morning here at all. Much still coming out and I do know some friends of friends that were there. All I can say is that it is a very sad day here.

Brothers watching Boston Marathon each lose a leg

Liz Norden, a mother of five, had just finished hauling groceries into her Wakefield home Monday afternoon when her cellphone rang.

“Ma, I’m hurt real bad,” said her 31-year-old son. He was in an ambulance, he told her, being rushed to Beth *Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

It was her second boy, who had gone with his older brother to watch a friend run in the Boston Marathon.

On the phone, her son said his legs were badly burned in an explosion. His brother had been next to him, but he didn’t know where he was.

Within the next two hours, amid frantic phone calls and a panicked drive into Boston, Norden pieced together the horrific truth that will forever change her two sons’ lives — and her own. Each of the brothers lost a leg, from the knee down. One was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess, while the other was at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
