The guy crouching in the archway looks suspicious to me, but he was probably just getting something out of his bag. The big guy looks disgruntled, but could be just an innocent guy tired of being stuck in a crowd.

Whoa, suspect #2 looks very possible. Check out how the straps on the bag he's holding appear to match with the destroyed bag.

I'm not so sure about suspect #1, and it looks to me like he still might have the backpack on in the photo that says he doesn't have it anymore.

But suspect #2 is very interesting. I'm not going to post the photo here in case he's not involved, though.

Color change by me-I get your post, but there isnt any released information regarding any suspects.

Just want to be clear as far as my understanding goes-please correct me if I am wrong.

wow, that one photo of the man with the backpack and he appears to be looking at the camera is creepy. Hope he is checked out.

I wonder why the family is so adament abou the girls name being released. I think I would be in such shock and so upset I wouldn't even think to make the request.

I don't know how to do photos or anything like you guys do editing etc.But there looks like a black backpack sitting alone in this picture. Did you see that?

For the reasons we are seeing surrounding the release of the other names...suddenly people are ripping pictures from FB pages, media is camping out on doorsteps, strangers are taking ownership of victims that they never knew in life....

Maybe they simply want privacy.

I would never voluntarily release a loved one's name.

Bomb question.

I see the pics of the batteries, bag, and circuit board are on the tree grate. Would those parts have blown there upon explosion or does the "mechanism" just heat up and the exploding part goes up and outward leaving the battery/board etc... in place?

If the parts stay in place, then the pic of the bag by the tree and mailbox could very well be one of the bombs. I thought bombs just blew all over the place.

I spoke with my son about this. This is his Army job.

This type of IED can be detonated with a few different devices. Examples- cell phone or garage door opener. Cell phone can be from anywhere. Garage door opener will be close enough for the signal to reach it. It would be on the outside of the IED and could come through the explosion without being totally destroyed.

http://imgur.com/a/sUrnA The front of this picture you will see the trashcan. A black tall box I'm not sure what that is, right beside that box is a black backpack sitting there.

God I don't want this to be true and I know I will be blasted for wondering this but.....What if The Cowboy Hat Hero was behind the bombing? Stranger things have happened.

What in the WORLD is the basis for this? :banghead:

A simple timer circuit is more likely in this case. The intent of this act seems to be to spread terror instead of target specific person. The bomber could assume that the finish line area would be crowded over a fairly long period of time.

I'm still a newbie on here (well posting anyway!) and so don't want to be unwelcoming but I really don't understand speculation like this either. Expecially when the individual has been about as heroic as it gets and been completely open about why he was there.

He is Carlos Arredondo and was at the race with his wife. His son died in 2004 in Iraq and a runner was completing the marathon in the memory of his son so he was there to support that. If you type his name in to google you'll find a lot about him and his actions after the bombings.

Just throwing this out here I don't know anything about bombs, but the stuff to make the bomb was it purchased at a store? Could they get video tapes from stores to see if the items where purchased there to make the bomb? And would lead to a suspect maybe or suspects. Just an idea.

Former retail store manager here, workers steal little dodads like those routinely.
