I have an issue with THIS person being referred to as "dark skinned."
Because there is NO reason to say that.
If you don't have a picture to show us, there is no need to describe them at all.

They aren't asking for help FINDING him...
They are simply claiming that a "dark skinned male" is in custody.

That is totally unnecessary to say.
Why does it matter what color his skin is?!

Especially because I've seen nothing credible to indicate that this isn't a white guy.

Even all the "rumors" are saying a white guy.
They should simply say they have reports that someone might be in custody.
Leave it at that until they have some sort of PROOF that any of it is true. :twocents:

The whole "dark skinned" or "brown skinned" thing makes me laugh. I post on a somewhat afrocentric website, though I am white.

Many said this ain't no "black" guy - they don't build bombs...they would have shot the place up! LOL!!

I thought that was funny, and probably true.

But those descriptions have somehow turned negative. And IMO anyway, it's not. It is in fact a description of the POI. Not saying in this particular case, I am talking about ANY case.

If someone is black, and they are looking for them in order for the public to be aware of the BOLO they need a description. Black man works best. If it's a white guy, no one is offended when they are described that way.

I don't get that at all!!! For some reason, being called a black person is somehow negative? Only to racists I would suppose?

Anyway, white, brown, black, purple, green or any combination of the above...doesn't matter. If he/she did it, they need to be brought to justice. And getting a good description out that 99% of the General Public understands is essential.

It's not *calling* someone dark skinned, or brown skinned that is problematic. It's that many of the armchair-investigative pics that circulated around 4chan and reddit overnight had picked out people for seemingly no OTHER reason than they were darker skinned, KWIM?

I am darker complected, and have no problem whatsoever being called brown skinned (by whites; darker latinos and blacks would call me light skinned). It's when folks go combing through pics and ONLY circling the brown skinned folks that it is bothersome.

Oh, and maybe they had backpacks. But then, so did every second person in those crowds! :banghead:

He might have emerged as the favorite today, but as I fell asleep last night in the wee hours, there were two or three groups of "brown skinned guys" who were the favorites. That's what I was referring to.

Evacuations may be a bomb threat or suspicious package. Some people do these things as they think it is funny, it is not. Some do it to get out of a sentencing date, well, their friends do it for them.

This deal with MSM constantly changing the story on the arrest/no arrest would be out loud funny if it didn't concern something so tragic. News orgs are so desperate to keep up with social media that they report the first thing that the source tells them without even verifying anymore. Guys at the National Enquirer are probably wondering what's the fuss, they been doing that for years.
