On my first trip to Australia I went into a local pub with some Australian friends. One of the waitresses knew the Aussies and thought she recognized me. She asked me how was my "bubbs". With her accent it sounded like she was asking about my 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 :) I was speachless. It turned out she thought I was someone else and asking about my "baby".

This made me laugh, I also posted the link in the Aussie thread, but I hadnt caught up on all the reading today. I have been on a few planes and people just love the way the Aussies talk, they tell you to keep talking because they love it so much, the Americans seem to remember the saying "Throw another shrimp on Barby". I heard that a lot when I was in Hawaii.

Trust me, as a rule, we Americans love everything about Australians, including the way you talk.

But since 9/11, our airline personnel have turned into a sort of flying Gestapo. I realize they do difficult jobs, but I don't see how acting like a$$holes make their jobs any easier.

After 9/11 all our security at airports or anywhere for that matter has been looked into and changes made, airline staff do have difficult jobs and definitely dont need anyone making it any harder that it already is.

these flight attendants are ticking me off. just this week we were on a flight ... the stewardess PLOWED into my husband (coach) to get some dude in first class a shasta. he was sitting, buckled in his seat in the isle. Did she apologize? NO. HIs shoulder still hurts. She just looked at him like he was doing something wrong and went on in a huff (he was sitting there playing a game with my daughter - he wasn't leaning out into the isle or anything either). But heck... you can't say anything, because YOU are the one at risk if you do.

Not fond off it myself Dingo, wont be doing anymore for a while if ever. But I have never had a bad experience with the cabin crew on any of the airlines I have travelled on, I was watching a DVD with headphones once and when I took off the headset it caught on a diamond earring that hubby had bought for me and flew up in the air, I heard it hit the luggage racks above me but couldnt find it, nearly everyone was asleep, and I told the hostess, and she got a torch and searched for ages even waking some of the passengers to see if it had landed on them or their seats, she couldnt find it but took my name, address, phone No., etc and said she would check when we all got off, she mustnt have found it as I never heard from her again, but she was very helpful.

Are they not taught about etiquette in training anymore, manners seem to be going by the wayside. Their jobs are to make the passengers comfortable and safe. A simple apology would have made a big difference.

See that was what I thought it was all about growing up (I totally wanted to be an airline stewardess!). However, it seems like now a days being an airline hostess is all about power tripping and being hateful to people (at least, as evidenced by the news here lately!). We had a couple sweet ones on the way to our destination, but the ones coming back were just - grouchy. I know they put up with a lot at the airports (people can be rude) but still!!! It has gotten to the point where the TSA, airline staff, and all the others can literally do no wrong. It's kind of crazy. I wonder when a class action lawsuit over this sort of stuff will take place.

Its sad to see that some people dont take pride in their jobs, and they do whatever just to live or for the money, there is no manners in a lot of jobs that are customer relations or hospitality, why do we as clients have to suffer when the services we require employ people with no people skills and manners.
