I think its an okay idea for the families, but what about:

In a "contemplation room" next door, the public will be able to pay respects to an empty, symbolic vessel.

My
keeping the remains in cold storage is because there may be break throughs to identify the remains in the future. I read that on the net last year.
I like the idea of the remains being in some type of memorial that still allows for future testing rather than sitting in the medical examiners cold storage for years to come.
For me there it seems like a sense of peace that these victims will all be in the place that they died together no doubt trying to help each other.

There are too many families and they'll never even be able to agree with one another, much less the rest of the city, state, United States. Sometimes the families just have to let go of certain things. Its hard and its unfair, but sometimes these things need to be put in perspective. Nothing will ever make it right for the families of those who died in the towers. Spending years arguing, litigating and fighting over a memorial is NOT the way to honor these people. IMO

I agree with this, also.

It even bugs me to see old movies with the towers and to know they are not there anymore

That's what I was just thinking. It always casts a pall over the movie for me. So sad!
