Family Needs our Help

I wish I knew how to take a screen shot and post it here. I found something really odd. It looks like letters in snow. It would have to be huge and it looks to be in a wooded area but I would like to know what you guys think. I have looked at almost 1000 tiles and I feel like I'm losing it. I keep coming back to this because it just looks so odd. It clearly looks like a giant H.

If you are on your computer, hit the button on the keyboard that says "print screen." You won't see anything happen, but it will take a screenshot of your screen.

If you open up Paint, you can right click your mouse and hit "paste" and your screen shot will appear. Then save it to your desktop.

Thought I saw same thing and def. tagged it, cannot remember where now, but it was in two places near each other, one looked like a heart..

If my directions are confusing to anyone let me know. I'm on my phone but I can hop on my laptop and do a better step by step. I want to help any way I can

Well done, Angela!

Good find! does anyone have any photos of what you all thought you found as far as the letters on the Beechcraft? I grew up in a family of pilots and planes, the singles are the best in case of engine failure, most ppl think the more engines you have the better, but the reverse is true. They could be holed up for sure in the cabin/built a shelter please keep looking!

Thank You! This was a HUGE help. Great idea.

For those of us :blushing: who are trying to figure this out, do you mean take the phone and set it like im going to take a photo and put it over my monitor? TIA!

That is what I did. It has helped me rule a lot of things out.

Id like to see the image of what has been found? Regarding the numbers, ect? Could anyone share? thank you!

I am looking on the site with the grids.
Not being from the area the plane was in, and knowing zero about the trees, drifts latest snowfall, many factors will be making locating it tougher.

I am looking on the site and the grid keeps freezing up and I have to start over. Anyone else having issues with it?

:twocents:
I was wrong to think that their cell phones would ping to help locate them..the phones if they have them may be drained of their power by now?
I am really hoping for a good outcome...

I thought I saw that "9" (6) with an "A" first then the "9" and then an "L" It jumped out at me immediately but I thought surely it was a trick of light and shadows. I saw what appeared to be other numbers and letters around it and I did tag it.

I wish I had taken a screen shot of that tile image because when the page froze and restarted all my viewed tiles were gone so I started again.

ETA I found my tagged images on the overview on right side.

Does anyone know all of the call numbers? usually it would be 796LS or 448HM, as are two of ours. Usually two letters follow the numbers.

Thanks. The classic version works much better for me.

Sky sent me this information to post. Brad wrote up an explanation for how to utilize the search site.

Also, the aircraft was a single engine Beachcraft. The call numbers are 39. In my searching I clearly found a "6," which I am sure was the 9 inverted.

Thank you everyone.

Please join our search by looking at satellite images. This is the link:http://bit.ly/1gKJbjU. If you have any issues with it please let me know. The purpose behind this is to get as many people looking at the satellite images as possible. Logging in allows you to know where you have searched before and gives the search and rescue the ability to know who tagged a location. We have been instructed to look at the images for anything that may look out of place. Give each image a quick glance to see if anything jumps out and then look over the entire image a little more carefully. They did caution against spending too much time analyzing an image as that tends to lead to someone "seeing" something that isn't really there. When people tag locations where they believe something is out of place, that information goes to the local search and rescue team who will then review the various tags to see if they agree with the tag (the more people that have reviewed an image and tagged a similar location will be looked at first). They will then send teams to look at those tagged locations where search and rescue agree that the plane and passengers may be located. More search areas will become available to the south of the current area shortly.

Here is a link a friend of mine put together to give an idea of scale and what we are looking for:

In this post from MichaelJames, he mentions the call numbers are 39,
so maybe the video with the plane shown with N36ML is not the same exact plane.
I posted that video upthread. Post#58
