Family Sets Up Website for Kyron - BringKyronHome.org /All Fundraising Information

I was on vacation last week and read that Desiree was requesting donations to increase the "reward" for Kyron's return. Is the "donations" fund to which you refer something different? I'm confused about the various funds and how they are being used.
I believe there is:
a) a reward
b) a fund with the sheriff's dept which has been generated from portions of the fundraisers
c)Kyron foundation $$ intended to aid in the overall search for kyron and any money left over after he is found will go to aid families of other missing children.

I am confused as well...is this the fund that was $50,000 and now it is up to $85,000? How would it even be possible to have $35,000 in donations made and counted over the weekend, I wonder? Or did the original anonymous donor add to it?

I keep trying to bring up the article about the 85K but it comes up as a search site for OregonLive.

Donations top $85000 for Kyron Horman investigation and family ...

Oct 3, 2010 ... Supporters have written checks, held car washes, hosted pizza, cosmetics and birthday fundraisers, pledged reward money and snapped up ...

other snip I can get even though the link won't open:
"I was looking to get the fundraising ball rolling," McFarland said. Her children saw Kyron on the day of the science fair, shortly before he disappeared. ...

But I can see that it has come from fundraising efforts as opposed to a single donor i think.

Reward money tops 85,000
Sorry not reward, donations.
Sorry I got everyone confused, apparently Desiree did the same, according to Kaine, in the Be patient thread.
People apparently want to donate to the reward fund and don't quite know how to do it, it goes into the Kyron fund.
JBean you might need to help me out on this one.

Donations top $85,000 for Kyron Horman investigation and family foundation

In the scheme of things, $541 raised toward efforts to find missing second-grader Kyron Horman is a drop in a very large bucket. But it comes from an unusual place.

Oregon State Penitentiary inmates Samuel Williams, D'Angelo Turner and Randy West conceived of a fundraiser, held during two dinner on the prison's control room floor, after following news coverage of the missing boy's case over the summer.

"We felt compelled that we needed to do our part, as men, as fathers, as uncles," West said in a telephone interview. West, 43, is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder for the 1988 shooting death of Donald R. Tracy of Vancouver outside a Northeast Portland convenience store

There are two main funds: a Bank of America contribution account managed by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and the Kyron Horman Foundation, organized by Kyron's parents, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, and stepfather Tony Young.

The sheriff's office fund began in June to offset the mounting expenses of the search for the missing boy, said spokeswoman Lt. Mary Lindstrand.

A chunk of donations are earmarked for search and rescue expenses, including staff hours, gas and meals. County search efforts are managed by the sheriff's office, but bolstered by nonprofit volunteer crews.

The rest of the contributions -- which are still trickling in -- "can go to any line item of anything to do with the Kyron case," Lindstrand said. The account remains open for donations, she said, because "we just haven't stopped it. We haven't solicited funds, but if people want to give, we want to help" provide a way to do it easily online.

Prisoners chips in $500 for the Kyron Horman Foundation Fund.

Thanks Snowden for this informative link[For those who haven't read, it's worth a read alot of info in the article other than that just of the prisoner's raising money for Ky]..

Which speaking of the prisoner's raising their own monies amongst their fellow inmates at the Oregon State Penitentiary... This just served as a reminder to me that just how much even prisoners hate and are outraged at child murderers... Not only I am thankful that these inmates raised funds going toward finding Kyron but I am thankful that this article was published about the prisoners efforts of helping to find this precious, little boy, Kyron Horman and it oughta serve as a good reminder to Terri that "her kind" are NOT looked upon favorably when once sentenced she will be housed with inmates[and some very well may the ones that have given their money to help find Kyron] where she will live the remainder of her years of life here on this earth[then she'll be off to face her TRUE JUDGEMENT DAY, IMO THIS IS WHAT SHE SHOULD BE MOST TERRIFIED OF]

[wanted to add just to suffice any who still believe Terri is innocent... The above OF COURSE would only be the case once she has been convicted GUILTY by a jury of her peers]

This is the first for me. I never heard a inmates donating to any cause. But this is a good thing. :)

Thanks for this T
Inmates don't like things that happen to children, most of them anyway.
I'm with you this was a good thing.

Thanks for posting this, Teh. It restores some of my faith in humanity. I agree, definitely a good thing.

Even bad guys who've done bad things have a hiearchy. Someone who causes harm to a child is the lowest rung, even in a prison society.

It makes my heart feel gladdened to know that those inmates, many fathers themselves I am sure, have taken special notice of Kyron's case and want to help, even if in a small way.

I'm shocked this hasn't been mentioned anywhere. I just checked Kyron's website, and found that tomorrow there's a fundraiser at Roloff Farms. The family with the TV show. What a perfect opportunity to get Kyron's face and story out there. I don't get it. Not a single mention anywhere in the media.

I've told you over and over BeanE "THANK YOU" as I seem to get more news off WS (and usually YOU)) than locally.

I missed the news tonight but nothing on about this when I watched this morning!
I'm going to have to check it out.. Thank you again so much for posting!!

There was no info about this on our local news here either (out of Eugene OR). But there was a report showing Sheriff Staton speaking and the reporter (I think erroneously) said that Staton said the case would be "wrapped up" by Feb. (KMTR)

Kyron’s parents raise search funds at Roloff pumpkin patch
Posted on October 16, 2010 at 5:54 PM

While thousands of people packed the Roloff Farm in Helvetia Saturday to search for the perfect pumpkin, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young continued the search for their missing son.

snip

"He loves little pumpkins," said Desiree. "Kyron loves to come and pick out just the right pumpkin, just the right size. So we got one for him today and we're going to go put it out at the Wall of Hope."

snip

Kyron's parents said they're not giving up hope. "Ultimately just be on the lookout for Kyron always," Desiree said.

The first thing I noticed in the still of the video before it starts is how Kaine is standing with his arms behind his back - just like Kyron's pic in front of his SF project.. :frown:

I hope a lot of money was made yesterday. How generous of the Roloff's to do this for Kyron.
