Bundy's gruesome slaughter was across multiple states. While psychopaths might be good at compartmentalizing their lives, they are not adept at hiding their personality disorder from trained professionals. Someone incapable of empathy is not fit to counsel suicidal people. Such screening is pretty standard so I don't find it totally bizarre or without merit to suggest the hotline was remiss.

I'd suggest you give the crisis hotline a call and make a formal complaint. Ted volunteered for them back around 1972 or so. Otherwise, I don't think anyone here can help you with your concern and the constant complaining is distracting others from the topic at hand.

Good luck.

I would think someone has seen Ann Rule's book by now? I ordered it through Amazon with quick delivery and they said I would have it on the release date which is the 27th. Anyone seen it yet?? It must be in the shipping system now or copies out.

I preordered it also ... no sign of it yet.

It doesn't come out early. I already checked on that scenario....

I am looking forward to reading this book and am glad that people across the US will have the chance to see Rebecca's case through Ann's thoughtful, intelligent, and experienced eyes. She is one smart lady!

Am downloading to my Kindle first thing in the morning.
Frigga, I totally agree with your assessment of Ann Rule. One smart lady indeed! She does her homework and says it like it is.

There was a short paragraph that the publishers wrote to introduce this book to readers. Of all the suspicious facts they could have mentioned, they chose to mention the inconclusive lie detector test. I just found it interesting that they mentioned that in the short space they had.
On top of that, I found it interesting that the lie detector test (which was indeed inconclusive) is the very same lie detector test that Gore claimed that AS passed with flying colors.

To me, it's not surprising that the publisher intentionally chose a fact that is not libelous because the Sheriff has already verified it.

Well, that is interesting- and telling, IMO.

Question: when an e-book gets pre-ordered, does it just show up? Does one get an email stating that it has arrived?

If you have Kindle or the Kindle app, the e-books automatically get delivered (synced) when you turn on your wifi. I preordered Ann Rule's e-book, so tomorrow it should be downloaded to my all my tablets and iPads :)

Am reading it on Kindle. Some very interesting new details. A few inconsequential details not completely correct but probably were at the time Ann sent the final manuscript to publisher. For example that Jonah had sold Spreckles to a corporation.

Very interesting read !! Some names we hadn't heard before... will report back.

Have finished reading the Coronado Deaths segment. Found it very well balanced, completely non-accusatory, no sensationalism at all. Just the facts as Ms Rule knew them to be IMO.

I bookmarked many many pages for further comment. Being such a new release (today!), not sure if correct to cite any sections for further discussion. I will leave that to the mods to guide us.. But I think I can safely say there is new info on Adam, quotes from Rebecca's private and personal journal, text to RZ from her sister XZ sent after RZ's death, comments on Paul Pfingst's association and presence AT the crime scene and questions on why was he permitted INSIDE the police tapes, and much much more.

Am anxious to hear other readers' comments!

Agreed, Carioca. Adam and the Ambien was new info. Pfingst association is interesting (inside the crime tape.). Adam getting calls from an attorney during the polygraph, etc. Adam blurting out the odd comment about his bedside manner when police arrived. Did we know Adam made 3 911 calls, and had walked around the mansion looking for the address? Description of Jonah dribbling soccer balls inside the mansion entryway with Max as typical play.

Jonah seen on numerous cameras in RMD house and the hospital during the estimated time of Rebecca's death.

Comment by the author that it was known that Max was not likely to survive BEFORE Rebecca's death. (I've been saying that for a long time.)

Jonah, Rebecca, and Howard ate at a fish market restaurant (not McDonalds in the hospital, as we have heard, but not had sourced).

Dina's BF not mentioned when the door was answered.

More insight into Adam's role in the family.

I'm just about done-- started it this morning. Off to finish.

Am off to back to back meetings and can only get back here much later in afternoon. Sigh... One thing that jumped out, at least for me, was much about RZ's ex, NN, the investigation into his whereabouts and interviews with him by LE, his relationship with RZ after their separation, and a comment by JS regarding him. Nothing accusatory, just an observation on his part. Sorry to keep you hanging.. Gotta run
