FIJI - Christe Chen Dawson, 39, Memphis Pharmacist murdered on honeymoon, Yasawa Islands, 9 July 2022 ** Husband Arrest**

I wonder if there were previous signs. In the Daily Mail picture of CC sitting on beach alone, her leg has a large not typical bruise. (By that I mean it doesn't look she merely bumped into something.)

I don't like how his lawyer sounds. "Something surprising happened?" I guess that's one way to call it. Glad Bradley is feeling better now.

"Something surprising happened,' Khan told DailyMail.com. 'Bradley's okay now but he was really distressed when it happened. Last week he was in a desperate condition but he's picking up now. It is a horrendous thing to happen on your honeymoon.'

About the bruise. Her SM is easy to find. I assume it is closed, but in open posts, CC comes across as a loving person, trying to find placement for a dog that walked into their house. The photos that the DM posts come from different years; the one where I see a scar from a burn (maybe not, but looks like it) and multiple small bruises is from 2017 or 2019. Not this trip. So probably, Mr. Dawson did not incur it. I think DM merely borrowed photos from open sources.

His lawyer insists death was an accident and murder charge will be dismissed

Quote snipped by
me.
An accident in which no call for help was ever made? In which the "Do Not Disturb" sign was hung?

I hope he's charged with all appropriate crimes. It may not be he planned her death, but if he never seeked help for her, he guaranteed it.
(My opinions only.)

It is odd, as another source posted that they knew each other since 2015; I forgot how they met, but something charitable. Maybe it wasn’t a romance at that time, merely an acquaintance? But everyone notices that Dawson was not well-known to Chen’s friends.
^^BBM

It was MSM that provided the 2015 connection at Christian Brothers University (CBU), Memphis, TN.

CCD's LinkedIn corroborates she received her undergraduate degree from CBU before leaving Memphis for grad school in Denver - albeit she does not include the years of her education.

Perhaps it would be valuable to have some SM links for BD if anybody here has this talent -- at least to corroborate if BD attended CBU. ;)

Also from LinkedIn is CCD's membership- Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, (charity focus) while attending CBU.

Reportedly, BD's last employment:

Dawson worked as an IT specialist for Youth Villages, a “private, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children with emotional and behavioral problems and their families live successfully,” according to the Memphis, Tennessee-based organization.

IMO, it's reasonable to think they at least knew of each other -- especially if both were involved in altruistic activities on campus.

Fast forward to the current date -- based on their ages (late '30s), it's possible one or both had been off the market and recently came together.

For example, this would not be the first partnership/marriage I've heard about after COVID lockdown where many connections/reconnections were made via social media apps. For many, COVID proved a lonely time. JMO

Snipped/bolded by me:

”Chen's parents were told of her murder after receiving a midnight phone call from the State Department, two or three days after she was killed, he added.

They arrived in Fiji on July 13. 'They thought it was a prank call,' he said. He added that there was a suggestion that Chen and Dawson had argued.

'She is the only child of her parents and obviously they are quite devastated and they want to ensure that justice at the end of the day is given to her.'

He added that Chen was Dawson's second wife, and said that he had visited Fiji two years earlier on vacation with his first wife.

On the day he was discovered, Dawson had told a local man that he'd somehow left Turtle Island in the dead of the night after he and his wife got into a heated argument.”

Wonder what the circumstances were under which his first marriage ended. Haven’t exactly seen people jumping out of the woodwork to support/defend him.

Also, wonder whose idea Fiji was—hers or his? And is it just coincidental that he returned to Fiji with Christe, or had he imagined that the isolated and private nature of the resort might be conducive to getting away with murder?

Newlywed cremated after being beaten to death in Fiji: Husband charged

Newlywed cremated after being beaten to death in Fiji: Husband charged

“Chen was so badly beaten her body could not be embalmed and her parents had her cremated before taking her ashes home to the US”
So much for the husband stating it was an accident.

I'd imagine investigators took photos as well, I'm typing this with great sadness.
What a sad job to have.

Graphic warning :

Depending on the amount of blood loss, it would indicate if she was conscious for most of the assault ??
There's no more bleeding after death.

And no one heard a thing ?
Christe must have screamed terribly.
Wonder if she scratched at him and fought back ?

Was going to ask even though news outlets haven't mentioned it : The husband --and I don't like to call him that, he was no real husband to Christe, in my opinion ! -- mentioned being drunk, was he on any drugs as well ?
Not excusing his actions.
But was his rage increased tenfold ?

Sorry for her parents to have to see her like that. They'd have made a positive identification ?
Even if a coroner told me not to look, I would want to see my baby one last time.
Again my condolences to her family, to have lost her in such a brutal manner.
Ugh.

So sorry for Christie's folks -- a parent's worse nightmare.

From the link:

Ronald Gordon, a lawyer representing Chen's estate and her parents, told DailyMail.com that they will take civil action against Dawson if he is not held criminally liable for her death and have not ruled out legal action against Turtle Island Resort. He added that he will also oppose any bail application.

'The family will follow the proceedings to ensure justice is served for Christe given the horrific injuries she endured,' he told DailyMail.com on Tuesday.

'The deceased was unable to be taken back to her home because of the nature of her injuries … so she had to be cremated here in Fiji and her ashes were taken back.

[..]

Chen's parents were told of her murder after receiving a midnight phone call from the State Department, two or three days after she was killed, he added.

On the day he was discovered, Dawson had told a local man that he'd somehow left Turtle Island in the dead of the night after he and his wife got into a heated argument.

Gordon told DailyMail.com that police told the family that Dawson had had left his GPS watch and phone at the hotel.

My first question is: privacy only goes so far on an island. There is a group of staff taking care of the tourists, “bure papas” and “bure mamas”. The island is small. From the cabins, the screams should be heard…if only “lush vegetation” dampens the sounds? In my mind, he was drunk, and got his hand on a full bottle. One hit on the head should have been enough but it likely was much longer…

I can’t believe that no one heard nothing.

Her poor parents and poor Christe.

Snipped to focus :
First bolded : Yeah, riiiight !
Getting into a kayak isn't like, he 'somehow fell into a passing boat'.

Second bolded : So he thought he wouldn't tracked on the other island ? Of course he could have just left his items behind in his rush to leave the scene of his crime.
Not very drunk, in other words.

What is on his phone and laptop/tablet or other devices ?
Curious if Christe discovered something.
Did she tell him she was going to the authorities with what she knew, or maybe that she was done with the marriage ?
Not trying to find fault with Christe.
Just wondering if BD is hiding something.

He may have smelled of alcohol to the man on the other island, and may have acted drunk, but I think he was in command of his senses.

Her sitting alone on the beach with a single big bruise on her leg and for him to have had falling onto coral type scrapes makes me think maybe she had kicked him. Maybe she didn't know that he had been there for another honeymoon just a couple years ago and that upset her - am I reading that right, that the two of them met planning a Bachelorette party in 2015 but he had an entire first marriage since then? That could be something a woman might get very upset about. Then for them to have to sleep in the same room together, maybe being drunk and the physical altercation continued. Maybe he knocked her down in the bathroom and she hit her head. Bathrooms are exactly the kind of place that sort of thing happens. I have no idea how homicide laws work in Fiji but in the US that would be 2nd degree manslaughter not murder.

That photo, with her alone, was from 2019 per her FB. So whatever it was, on her leg, has little relevance to today’s story. As to him being in Fiji with his first wife, we don’t know 1) if it was a honeymoon, and 2) how Christe felt about it. From what I read, Christe had friends, was social and sure, and looked forward towards having children. Today, it looks like “he killed her in a drunken rage”, but DM, no doubt, will enlighten us about the situation.

We don’t know what they had argument about, could be virtually anything, serious or not. People quarrel. Dawson comes across as the man who: 1) has the money for expensive trips; 2) no matter what the reason for the quarrel, gets disproportionately angry (“disinhibited”) when drunk. Maybe this is all to the story, maybe, not. (His first wife, probably, dodged the bullet.) Reactions to drinking, oddly, don’t change. I have seen people who drank and felt happy, and some, who were mean drunk. AA works well with such clients, and people are responsible for not sweeping their issue under the rug.

Respectfully snipped for brevity.

We don’t know what else was in the husband’s life besides alcohol. He looks like there might have been something, but I don’t want to speculate.

Ironically, the opposite might have been true: was on some medications, new wife wanted kids, so he got off something for the trip but carried on drinking.

And since we are on the alcohol theme, and please don’t get me wrong, I am not a teetotaler, but everything in moderation. In huge amounts, alcohol is a major toxin, way worse than marijuana. While high-potency THC can cause psychosis, chronic alcohol use affects every system, starting with memory. To remember serious withdrawal symptoms, including alcohol hallucinosis, and rare, but hortible condition, happening after days of drinking, alcohol delirium. A major drug and a major toxin, and if there are people who drink themselves into seeing rains of purple worms, then others, with regular drinking of smaller amounts, might have pathological alcohol-fueled jealousy and anger. And what is interesting, I have observed people being angry on marijuana, but the next phase, heavy sleep, usually mitigates the problem. Not so easy with ETOH. With alcohol blackouts, people might not quite remember what had happened as a single line, but nonetheless, they are fully responsible for themselves, and their blackouts. Because there are medications to prevent drinking, and there are counselors, and there is AA and whatnot.

Sorry for this long-winded post. It is not the first time when someone got drunk and killed a woman. (((

Moo...he was repeating a process. His first marriage, he went there for honeymoon..The marriage did not work out. Who knows where his drunk thoughts were. Obviously it is going to trigger memories for him.Christe just ended up on receiving end of unworked out anger? It is possible he did alcohol black out and does not remember. But that does not make her any less dead.....moo

Yeah, from the reports of her condition, I don't think this was the result of an argument. IMO, it was more like a volcanic eruption of long buried rage and hatred, not necessarily caused by her.

DM is reporting there was a drunken altercation on the beach between the two of them regarding his "inappropriate" dancing with another guest.

Sounds like they were both overserved, both drunk, he's flirtatious and she's combative.

Still no excuse for physical violence.

I suspect his defense will have allegations about the resort overserving them.

A life sentence in a Fijian prison with a bunch of bad dudes.?

Her parents will not let him get away if they can help it. His prior marriage was in 2019, so that was a short marriage, over in less than 2 years. Tells me there was something off with that marriage, too.

I believe I read in one of the articles that her parents paid for this trip. It was referenced as being over 3k a night, also.

*My opinions.

The couple, who met in November 2021, married three months later after a whirlwind romance. Chen had previously been engaged. She was Dawson's second wife - he'd married his first in Fiji in September 2019, according to a wedding registry. It's unclear when he separated from his first wife.

Chen was found dead just two days after they checked into the elite private resort, which her parents - who were regulars there - had paid for.”

More of the same information from another source. I find the fact that he is no where on her SM very interesting.

Memphis man accused of killing wife to remain jailed in Fiji until at least Aug. 18

From the article:

"The Memphis pair had only been married a short time, and court records say that Dawson had previously been married to another woman in a 2019 ceremony that also took place in Fiji. His divorce in that first marriage was finalized in January."

"Born in Middletown, New York, Bradley Dawson is now 38 and was married for the first time at Yaro, Fiji in September 2019, according to a Shelby County Chancery Court divorce filing related to that first marriage.

"He filed for divorce about two years later, in September 2021. His filing cites "irreconcilable differences" as grounds and says no children were born of the marriage.

"The husband and wife quickly reached a settlement to divide property. The court issued a final decree of divorce on January 11.

"The publicly available records make no mention of violence or similar problems."
