Unfortunately, I think the, <mod snip> site was put up by someone just looking to cash in on all the web traffic for people looking for news on the girl.
-- I searched the IP neighbors because if people have more than one site, it will often be hosted on the same IP address. But among the 800+ sites listed, nothing jumped out at me--it was just a bunch of other Adsense sites (sites set up on highly searced topics using Google Adsense to make money).
-- The site itself is built on the BlueSense WordPress theme, which is made to create fast and easy Adsense sites. Plus you've got the ads going on both sides of the content, instead of links to more info about the case. So, it shows you their priority.
-- All the pictures relevant to the case were uploaded into the site and may have been cropped and renamed to make identification of the original source more difficult because TinEye came up with nothing except on the dog one, which was obviously lifted from another site.
The one of Lisa in pink should have definitely hit because it has been used by a number of media sites, although it could just not be in their database yet.
Anyway, all this photo stuff just means the person is savvy enough about Internet marketing to know they shouldn't just post photos through the URL of the original location (bad netiquette) and that they can get in trouble for using photos they don't have rights to.
On a related note, I bet the aerial photo is a screen shot of the house from Google Maps, the satellite version, or a still from a news video.
-- Using the Adsense ID, I found the guy has a bunch of other Adwords sites. I may have found a name but can't be sure, he has a couple of sites with names and it's possible they're all faked. The one that looked the most real no longer had the Adsense on there to verify that it's the same person.
Bottom line, I guess the guy may be good-hearted enough to forward any leads to the police, but I really wouldn't count on it...or at least count on it being done in a timely manner.
