Finnish Police - The police is looking for information about missing 28 year old Katja Miinalainen
Ilta-Sanomat - Katja, 28, went to Lapland with Mika Moring but never came back - this is what we know
Katja was last seen alive in August of 2022, there is no information about her destiny after that. Police theorise she might have become a victim of sexual- and violent criminal Mika Moring. This because Katja’s disappearance is very similar to the disappearance and murder of Saara Arva, victim of Mika Moring, who disappeared in August 2019 and was found deceased in April 2024 by ice fishers
Katja entered the white Audi that Moring owned in Helsinki in August 2022. At the time of her disappearance Katja was living at housing unit owned by a foundation that helped people experiencing homelessness and struggled with drug- and alcohol abuse. Saara Arva had also lived in this housing-unit.
The last sure sighting of Katja was on 14th of august 2022 in Kiikala, Salo. Police suspect that Moring drove Katja through all of Finland.
14 - 21 August: Tammela
21 - 23 August: Pihtipudas
24 - 25 August: After this the car made it’s way all the way to Rovaniemi in Lapland according to police.
According to Police they also spent time in Muonio around 25 - 26 August. The trip ended on 26 August when Moring arrived back in Helsinki, without Katja.
Moring was arrested as a suspect for the murder of Katja Miinalainen on 2nd of December 2022, but was released because of limitations, but was never actually released as he was then once more arrested; now for several sexual violence crimes.
In the summer of 2023 Moring was sentenced to two years absolute imprisonment for two rapes, two charges of false imprisonment and assault. He was later also sentenced to six years in prison for sexual- and violent crimes against six women between the years 2018-2022. He has not been sentenced for the alleged murders of Saara Arva or Katja Miinalainen.
If you know anything about Katja’s (or Saara’s) disappearances, please let the police know on [email protected].
