On Friday, January 30 2026, at 6 p.m. Finnish TV Yle began a three day live reading marathon of all the Moomin books by Tove Janson. The first one out in the reading marathon was President Alexander Stubb, reading in Swedish. About one hour later he read again, and began reading the second book, this time in Finnish. The books were written in Swedish, as Tove Jansson was Finland-Swedish, and Finland has two official languages, Finnish and Swedish. Today the books have been translated into many languages.
