“Vesa Matti Frantsila from Pori has been missing for almost 16 years. The Finnish man was added to Interpol’s international yellow pages last year.

He was only reported missing about a year ago, when he had been missing for 15 years already.

Frantsila’s disappearance came to light when the property management company changed. The payments for his apartment had been on auto payment to the previous company, but when the change happened the payments stopped.

A police report came in last March that there was a large amount of post in the apartment, detective Tapio Rantanen from Pori police tells MTV uutiset.”

According to bank statements he was last in Pori in the beginning of July 2001. In august 2001 he traveled to Crete, Greece, with a travel agency. After his trip to Crete he for some reason ended up in Warsaw, Poland. There he visited the Finnish Embassy and told them that he had been robbed of his money, passport and the ticket he was supposed to get home with. He was offered help by the embassy, which he refused. He has not been seen since.

• Frantsila does have an older brother, but they were not in contact when Vesa went missing.
• When the property managers entered his apartment in connection to ventilation cleanings in the apartment building they discovered a note written by Frantsila, it stated (roughly translated)

My apartment is not connected to the electrical grid, and so there is no right to do inspections or fixes while I am gone. My apartment’s illegal and life-threatening electrical wiring is my criminal evidence, that can only be touched with my permission.​
