I was just going to ask how are these fires starting? Here in AZ we get lightening that usually sets ours off.

... and for you and yours LaborDayRN- I hope your home and neighborhood is spared.

Thanks Frigga. We are hoping to move back down to this house in a few years when I retire.

In addition to Canyon Lake, Appaloosa, #ScrippsRanch Blvd, Birch Bluff and Scripps Lake also evacuated. #CanyonLakeFire #ScrippsRanchFire

Birch Bluff is three blocks from my home. (just to be clear, I don't live in the home at this time).

Sadly, that seems to be the case. I was in L.A during the big Halloween fire in the 80's. Someone went around the entire circular foothills of the Valley and set fires. That was so scary. We were surrounded.

Fox 5 local news reporter says the cause is unknown, fire chief is investigating, not ruling out arson, could just be random due to heat and drought.

With the wind blowing the way it is, I suppose some of the fires that are close together could be from blowing embers. Some of these fires are miles and miles apart so.......your guess is as good as mine.

I know that Camp Pendleton on I-5 was started by a semi truck fire. The others IDK. I'm in Utah now. Ours here, our usually lightening as well. At the height of fire season, I would box my photos and important papers and keep them and the dog kennels, etc. ready in the back of the SUV and back it into the garage.

California has been in a drought for what seems like my whole 31 years of existence. In addition to that we are having a Santa Ana, it's really hot and windy! It's in the mid 90's at my house and has been windy all day. This morning I heard there were 50 mph winds. All of the dry brush seems to be catching on fire. I sure hope these aren't being intentionally set!

I have all of my important things and a couple outfits in a pile.

We live next to a giant open lot covered in brush. I keep looking out the window to make sure it doesn't light up too.

We have close to the same weather here and AZ is dry as a bone. The winds have been strong for months. There have been wildfires but they have been contained. Dry lightning or sometimes man made usually are what causes them. I can see the winds causing the fires to jump to other areas though.
