fires in San Diego County-evacuations

  • #121
I'm scared for tomorrow! It's supposed to be the hottest day yet.

I saw on the news a man hadn't left his San Marcos home yet. They were certain it was the next to catch on fire. How devastating! I hope he got out if there in time :(

I may ever see over the rest of my life.
We were in dire straits, and finally the Calvary showed up...and boy did they ever!

It was a sight to see, that I will never forget.

We were in the center and saw it all.
Huge fire fighting planes, that looked like whales with wings, every kind of fire fighting helicopters made over the last 30+ years. Some carrying drop down hoses that suck up water from a nearby water source, then spew it out over burning areas. Some that looked like big dragonfly, many with huge buckets with which to scoup up water and drop on burning areas, and planes that looked like crop dusters, but that dusted fire retardent.

Seriously Wow.

Thank you whichever San Diego politicians that authorized the "go spend" the money for these life saving machines and the humans that pilot them.
Much of this drama of man versus nature happened directly over our house.

Unfortunately, I stink with pics, and how to make a video. Maybe one of my neighbors captured some of this.
Regardless, normally, I'm pizzed off at our government for wasting tax payers money.

Today. I am thankful. That somewhere in San Diego, there is/was a politician who really saved lives and property by putting tax payers money to good use!

Honestly, it was like a War of the World scenario. ALL of the fire fighters, on the ground, and in the air, were relentless. They just kept coming and coming, and there was NO giving up.

I truly, am in awe.
Dee who is amazingly still in Fallbrook.

God bless you and your neighbors, Kali. I think lessons learned from the past are what's in play here.

My sister, niece and nephew are safe! And so is their beloved dog Licorice! Yay! My sis said the fire is burning all around her complex- but very slow (good). She said it was surreal. I am so glad they went back to get their sweet dog. Prayers for safety for all in harms way and all of us who love them. This is bad. So happy Dee- stay safe.

Thank you Jesus!

Some of these fires are intentional, imo.

I just listened tp the news conference and watch live news. Omg

Ty Dr Know!

No one is covering this, CNN or Fox .

I wish the weather channel was covering this.
BBM: I agree. I am in this area right now. Not half a mile from where I am, some idiot set fire to the brush in a park. Fortunately, the fire was caught right away, and there was still an engine nearby to stop the fire. They didn't catch the 🤬🤬🤬 who set it, but the police cars increased for about 2 hours in this area.

ETA: A few weeks ago there was weather here just like this, even stronger winds. But no fires. Hmmm.....

"San Diego County district supervisor Bill Horn said Wednesday evening that eight fires were burning in the region, seven of which popped up that day.
Investigators haven't yet determined the cause of these fires. But Horn hasn't seen anything like this -- so many fires, so quick, all of them separate -- in at least 20 years. That this is happening in May, not July or October, is even more confounding to him.
"I'm sure it could be by chance," the clearly skeptical supervisor said. "... I just think there's too much of a coincidence here."
Whatever the cause -- whether it's a person or Mother Nature -- the impact is already being felt."

Stay safe everyone!!

I'm sure the Fire Dept. & LE have checked with weather reports, radical groups, known arsonists to determine who is causing these devasting fires. They usually find who did it. May take some time obtaining video etc (like here on some man made fires)...but if these fires are man made, their attention seeking ways have been observed somewhere or somehow & CA is going to get you, jmo.

Came across this:

Metro Arson Strike Team

The Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) is called if an incident involves a suspicious fire or explosive devices.
MAST was formed in 1980 in response to a growing arson problem in the city, as evidenced by the devastating fires at Balboa Park's Old Globe Theatre and Aerospace Museum in 1978.
MAST investigators are cross-trained to achieve expertise in both fire/explosives investigation and police procedure. Fire investigators are peace officers, have powers of arrest, and are armed.

Staffing is arranged so that the City of San Diego has coverage for fire investigations and critical explosives and bombing incidents 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Metro Arson Strike Team is staffed by:
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department
San Diego Police Department
U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms - ATF
U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation - FBI

In addition, MAST utilizes a variety of specialized equipment in examining fire scenes and conducting explosives related operations. One of the unique resources is Andros, the bomb disposal robot."

jmo / ot / I've always been interested in this phenomenon, and cases associated with this:

Google this:

"firefighter sets fire"

Look at everything that comes up.

It's not uncommon. I'm NOT saying this is the case here, but am reminded of past cases. IIRC, a long time ago they caught the guy by cross referencing fire fighter conventions in the areas with dates that coincided with the fires...it was on Unsolved Mysteries or something like that.

I just hope whatever mentally ill, radical group gets caught & the fires stop. It's been a crazy two days following the fire that turned into 9. My sympathy to all that lost their homes, businesses or anything else. It's been devasting to watch along with everyone and personal posts of fear or worry.

I'm knocking on heavens door to say, don't let anyone in due to the fires. Good luck CA people and all the posters here and hope the fires get put out soon. Bring Rain! Stop Santa Ana winds, El Nino!

Thanks Dr Know and everyone for the updates.

Mrs. O, I'm going to post some twitter links to help keep you updated. Twitter was an invaluable resource for me during the massive September floods here in Colorado.

I've read tweets about being surrounded from close areas in CA to Tijuana. Not one is official that I've read nor link. Just spammers, imo. Just sorting the laundry...
