Thank you for posting the picture...As I see it from what I have seen posted some here seem to view the world as now being a "LIGHTER" place with Trayvon no longer in it..IMHO..To that I say... What a shame.. JMHO

Yes, and to boot, the SAME people do not understand why THEIR attitudes are breeding violence.

Yep, sometimes I do. I worked in the public school system for 15 years. And I did have a few white kids that made me very nervous. One of them did actually get arrested for having a 'death list' on his FB.

I know some kids like that too... (none that got arrested so far)

But I'm guessing that you knew something about them that made you nervous, other than that they were white.

It does not appear that GZ knew anything about TM to make him nervous other than that he was black and out in his his neighborhood.

Did they say exactly how many 911 calls they received that night? And did they release them all? Tia

I think common sense should have told him that even if some black teenagers are criminals not all of them commit criminal acts all of the time and the police don't have the resources to chase down every single black teenager who is doing nothing wrong at the time.

Of course he should have. But that doesn't change the fact that statistics show us that there is often a reason to have suspicions about teens in hoodies walking around at night. GZ should have been arrested for manslaughter imo.

But this reaction on the other side, that GZ was a racist that WANTED to find an innocent black kid and shoot him for fun has got to stop.

Out of the 900 black males shot and killed in our nation last year, over 800 of them were killed by other black teens. And do you think the balck community HELPS LE in those cases? Most of them go unsolved because of the Anti-snitching campaign. If there is a good reason for a nationwide protest, is that, imo.

On the recording from the Sanford site, the sounds are kind of metallic at least to me. Maybe he had 'taps' on his shoes - do people still do that? (showing my age here!)

I thought it was the 911 operator typing?

Same here only have worked within the public school system for over 25 years, when I see a white male walking the halls of a Florida high school wearing a long trench coat I get very nervous every time.

Question: If someone is following/stalking you, and you are afraid for your life, do you have the right to use deadly force? If so, does that person have the right to use deadly force against you? Such a sticky law.

I was approached by a sexual predator the other day. Crazy things went through my head. I kept thinking, if I attack him first because he's harassing me and grabbing me, he could shoot me dead. Then say, "oh..I was just asking her the time and she went nuts!"

*sigh*

In Florida you must reasonably believe it is necessary. I don't know about Ohio.

(
3) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

After much thought I've come to the conclusion that both seemed to overreact about the whole situation. Unfortunately with Trayvon dead. It appears to be a case of Zimmerman exceeding his authority/responsibities as a Neighorhood Watch member triggering an overreaction by Martin, creating a situation that got out of control in a matter of seconds. Yet there are still some unanswered questions.

And if supposedly Zimmerman was stalking(which I don't believe and the full 911 audio doesn't lead me to believe that)why didn't Trayvon call 911 or his girlfriend?

Also if it has not been posted I can post a link to the Police report.

Actually LE describe the same scenario when the media tried to question personnel from the PD on their own time and called it "stalking" and said they would be arrested. So here you have LE defining for us the same situation TM found himself in. And he was on the phone with his gf when he asked GZ while he was following him and GZ asked what are you doing here. Then she heard a scuffling sound and the phone disconnected. I don't think TM had a chance to call 911. jmo

Thank you and CSZiggy as well.
Sounds like keyboard clicks to me...

Thanks - and that shows how you can get "tunnel vision" - I never thought about noises from the dispatcher's end of the recording. Even though I have heard keyboard clicks on other recordings of dispatcher recordings!

But wouldn't the fear be based on the person? So people freak out and panic much more than others. Very sticky law. lol

That's why they add "reasonable" before "person." :floorlaugh:

I noticed that too. I can also hear the loud rushing noise wind makes against a mic, I have heard that on a cell phone and videos I have taken outside. That loud rushing noise stops though and I think that is when he is between the homes out of the wind.

I can tell you what MY thoughts would have been were I running from a stalker. If I had stopped to dial 911 or a friend (not sure how a friend could save me), my stalker can overcome me during the time it takes. Also, if I am trying hard to stay in the shadows unseen, talking on the phone will alert the stalker to where I am.

I think TM was just trying to get home. When he was overcome by his stalker, bless his heart, he screamed help as loud as he could. If he was screaming help, why wouldn't his pursuer then realize that this kid was NOT going to be robbing any houses at that moment. What did GZ think, that the cops would come and arrest Trayvon for walking in the rain with an odd look on his face???

It does leave scars. And in your dad's case the man was actively committing a crime and using deadly force...he had no choice and that is understandable. He may have saved someone else's life as well. This is what the SYG law is suppose to do. jmo

Subject incident apparently happened years ago. And I presume before 2005 when there was no SYG statute. The self defense laws were pretty adequate prior to this very controversial SYG and its numerous apparent loopholes.
On scars when killing a person. I had a friend who killed a young person while driving. It was absolutely thru no fault of her own. She was never the same after that and it haunted her till her death.

If your asking if the mere fact of following you would justify the use of deadly force because it makes you afraid for your life, I would so no, that's not reasonable.

That does seem to be the consensus. And I'm laughing at myself for having "tunnel vision" and not even considering that there could be sounds from the dispatcher's end of the call! :blushing:

How is that possible when all teens wear them and in particular in the rain when it's 60 degrees outside? lol I can't help but think that GZ would have been suspicious if GZ walked in the rain and didn't put his hood up. If it's raining why wouldn't someone want to keep their head from getting wet. I think that is a thought that NEVER entered Mr. Z's mind. jmo
