I'd be willing to bet money that was just a mistake by the newscaster and/or teleprompter writer. There's no way a Chicago reporter would have a scoop on that, and no one else is reporting it.

As some one else asked: how could Martin call 911 and be on the phone with his gf at the same time?

I think LE has Tray's phone (??) but Trayvon's family would not give them permission to have access to the logs. They would need to get a search warrant for them. Which begs the question... did they check Zimmerman's phone log? Hopefull the Fed's have.

I've been asking this very same question for 3 days now. Where is Trayvon's phone - physically? According to the police report that was released the only evidence noted is GZ's gun. There is absolutely no mention anywhere about a cell phone.

So where is it?

I'm thinking that, if Trayvon did call 911, that he didn't actually drop the phone like the girlfriend thought, but Trayvon hung up and dialed 911?

I think George Zimmerman took it when he realized the phone was connected to 911 after he shot Tray. Could be why he felt the need to yell out "it was self defense!"

Just my opinion and purely speculation.

(I still want to see this 911 call from Tray reported somewhere else though. Not sure how I feel about that yet.)

Yes, and if he is making it up, I will be really upset. That's not something you make up. I would hope someone wouldn't do something like that.

He may not have purposely made anything up. In the Lisa Irwin case some stations took copy from a affiliate station that was local and made some editing changes that included changing the facts by mistake. And yes it's upsetting. That may be what we have here. I'm waiting for confirmation that there is such a 911 recording.

I think it's a very real possibility that Zimmerman took Trayvon's phone, hence the witnesses seeing him straddling Trayvon's body after he shot him.

I thought Trayvon's father got the call logs from the carrier and that's how he found out about the gf? Or, wouldn't he have already known about the gf since, at least, the wake where she was hospitalized over all of this and couldn't attend? Granted he lives up there and she was down here - Trayvon's mom lives here - she would have known about the gf.

ETA: Or was it that Trayvon's parents knew about the gf and the phone call but waited to get the logs from the carrier to have concrete proof to back it all up?
