So maybe he considers himself Abraham's brother? My son is an only child and has friends he calls his brothers.

Besides the supposed "will", was there anything in the article that rang true to any of you, his true blood relatives?

But the story says that Ms. Walker is his mother as well. I'm assuming that is what he told the reporter.

Yes, I read the article. I don't know if he saw Abraham that day, but Abraham was scared that someone was after him. He told my husband the same thing. But, you couldn't tell him anything. We warned him about all of the people he was hanging around with and he just kind of ignored the warnings. We never really thought that anyone would kill him, but we knew they were taking advantage of him.

Mrs. Walker is not Robert Brown's mother. She told me last night that he was crazy and a liar. That was before I read the Tampa Tribune article.

  • #385
Yeah, my son's "brothers" call me Mom, too. It's a stretch I know, but was he BSing for 15 minutes of fame or did he say that in good faith? Does he consider himself family?

  • #386
He might consider himself a "brother", but I also think he wanted 15 minutes of fame, just like everyone else that says they are related to him. They came out of the wood work when he won the lottery and when he died. It's really ridiculous.

I can relate to that. How hurt and frustrated you guys have to feel. <hugs>

Wouldn't he tell your husband who he thought was after him? Or why he thought that? A lot of the posters here felt that he looked like he was uneasy while watching those surveillance cameras on the video Dorice made of him. The real danger was right in the room with him. Was Dorice telling him things to make him afraid? That was what I thought was happening when she told the newspaper that he was really afraid the police would come after him for the child support. I figured it was her feeding that fear. And then he has Stitzel as an attorney for his child support case and Stitzel is "borrowing" money from Dorice and lieing for her to the police and the newspaper about talking to Abraham in October 2009 and that Abraham didn't sound at all stressed to him according to the criminal affidavit. The way he was watching those cameras, I felt it was something she had told him to make him feel like someone was out to get him.

He was threatened all the time for telling people he wouldn't give them money. So, I think he really thought someone was after him.

So if we can't believe what he said about them sharing a mother, and if we can't believe what he said about writing a will, then I would hazard a guess that we can't really believe anything else he said to the reporter in that article. I'm sure the police must realize he is not really Abraham's real 1/2 brother, then, and I doubt if they would give out information to people and jeopardize the case.
I am really sorry to hear that people would threaten Abraham just for telling them no. The Ledger has done some really wonderful stories on this case and brought him to life to me as a very easy going and generous person. So much greed of others seemed to make his time after winning the lottery turn what should have been a wonderful life into a very sad existence. I wish he would have listened to his family.
Did he really believe that Dorice was writing a book about him? I could find nothing that she has published. I think she'll have plenty of time on her hands to learn how to write now. If she doesn't get the death penalty, she will still most likely be spending the rest of her life behind bars.
For the earlier poster, it could be that she is pleading "Not Guilty" because they haven't offered her a deal. They really have no reason to. She had means, motive, and opportunity. They may decide to ask for the death penalty and then offer her life without parole as a deal. They have done that before. It saves a whole lot of money that way. And it keeps her away from society.

I think that there will be more people arrested. I really don't think that she did this alone. He thought she was going to write a book about him. But I believe that was just another lie she told to explain why she was hanging around. My husband had told me about her being at Abraham's house before all of this happened. He told me that she was writing a book about Abraham and was going to pay my husband to answer a some questions for her book.

Thanks Christi. So who is this guy and was there any truth at all in his claims? Did he really see Abraham April 3?

Don't worry about bursting anyone's bubble. I'm just glad you are here to tell the truth.

Nice job, Tribune. Next time verify people before you write a story.

That Howard Altman who's writing the stories on this case for the Tribune, is also the one who said DDM met AS Feb 2007. From everything we have been over (and over and over).....That is obviously not the case.
Someone needs to correct him and tell him he needs to verify his facts before they go to press.

Christi, another question. I went back through the threads and found the obituary for James Shakespeare, Abraham's father:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4621811&highlight=obituary#post4621811

LAKE WALES -- Mr. James Shakespeare of Lake Wales died of heart disease Thursday (Dec. 15, 2005) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 84. Born Jan. 30, 1921, in Greenville, Mr. Shakespeare moved to Lake Wales from Lakeland two years ago. He worked as a citrus harvester.

Mr. Shakespeare is survived by his companion, Elizabeth Walker, Lakeland; sons, Abraham Shakespeare and James Shakespeare, both of Lakeland; stepson, Robert E. Brown, Lakeland; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Epps Mortuary Chapel, Lake Wales.

In this obituary, Robert E Brown is listed as James Shakespeare's stepson. Now I am confused. Could you help clear up the confusion?

LOL, it's Sentorria. All I know is that her and Abraham were together for awhile. I had seen her a couple of times. After she had the baby Abraham had heard rumors that the baby wasn't his. Which is why he didn't want to pay child support for him.

I am with you Susan, surely LE knows RB isn't AS's brother, 1/2 or otherwise. It makes me so very sad for Abraham, and for others who've won large sums of money, that people hound/threaten/beg for money and make the lives of the money winners ridiculously miserable. What right do these people think they have to even ASK for someone's money?? Someone related to us won the lottery (only $7mil, nowhere near what AS won) and we woulda starved to death before asking for a DIME!!!

I'm not sure who did this obituary, but you can pretty much tell the person writing up the obituary whatever you want it to say. My husband says that Robert is someone that Abraham's father took care of for a while. Not really a relative of his, just felt sorry for him I guess.

I don't mind answering the questions, even though I should be doing homework. I have been wanting to help you guys out for a while, but I didn't want people to think I was trying to get my 15 minutes of fame.

I think she told me on the way to the courthouse the other day that the last time she talked to Dee Dee was when she gave her the bible. It was after the detectives told her not to talk to her anymore, so probably in December or the beginning of January.
