FL - Ajike "AJ" Owens, 35, fatally shot by neighbor, Marion County, June 2023 *arrest*

I cant fathom the level of hate this woman has for others. To shoot through your door at a person is unconscionable. To throw things at the kids is disgusting. I am happy that she has been found guilty. I wonder how much time she will actually serve.... we have seen a bit of minimizing sentences lately when it comes to older folks so I am apprehensive.

She is basing it on what “could have” happened I think, which makes no sense.
This reminds me of the Apple River stabbings.
I think some people simply feel threatened when confronted with the consequences of their awful behavior.
The white person felt attacked because she had never been held to account for being a racist. IMO

Snip
Susan Lorincz, the Florida woman who was found guilty of first-degree felony manslaughter with a firearm in August, is set to be sentenced on Monday for fatally shooting her neighbor, Ajike "AJ" Owens, through a locked door in an incident that occurred on June 2, 2023, in Ocala.

She is facing up to 30 years in prison.

I honestly don't feel she regrets her actions even to this day.

Me either. She will rot in prison and still have zero remorse. This is the hill she picked to die on. Stupid games. Stupid prizes.

Agree on both points.

is the lady testifying right now a family member of Susan's? Feels like the defense is trotting out every mentally ill person in Susan's family history to try to suggest that she is not responsible for her actions. MOO We all have baggage. We all don't shoot an unarmed woman for banging on our front doors and claim it was self defense.

for a lady who didn't plead mental health issues and went with self defense instead, we sure are trotting out a lot of people to try to explain her actions by hard life, childhood AS, childhood physical abuse, PTSD, etc etc etc.

I could see these things as mitigators IF she had ever expressed remorse for the life she took but I haven't seen that from her.

ugh, this got me from the link @sds71 posted above:

“Future generations will be impacted…since the children’s children will be raised by parents who suffered early trauma,” lamented Dais.

so true, and something rarely considered...

Shaking her head during the Judge's sentencing, she deserves to be put away. She still does not think she did anything wrong.

I have to wonder if her lawyer counseled her to not say what she said in her own defense. It seems like it was point after point of why she was the victim with a sprinkle of "I would trade places if I could." Judge got this right IMHO.

I noted earlier, the kids went home to complain about Lorencz and Mom went over, its not their fault, but their guilt must be horrible.
Lorencz impassivity so infuriating at trial, obviously the same in her housing complex.

When she recited the self defense laws from textbook memory it made me suspicious.

Yes. Jury saw it too.
All she needed to do was wait for the police.

The door Owens was shot through:

Right above the door knob, it was murder.
