Does anyone remember a news article earlier on where they mentioned that JG and his brother lived with DA's father before he lived with DA's mother? I swore I read an article that mentioned that the brothers lived with her father before. That leads me to believe that DA and her mom may have known the brother's a lot longer than before she they worked together officially and before they moved in.

“I lived with the brothers for a long time about five to six years. I never thought he had any bad intentions. The only thing I know is that he was very nice to her, they would talk, and he was affectionate with her,” he said.

I share a version of what you are thinking. I'm thinking he had spent a long time grooming, molesting, but had not completed his mission. He knew that when he did complete the rape, it would be very difficult to keep it secret. It would be a very traumatic experience for a little girl and she would most likely be injured and terrified and run to mama. After he was ran off by Diana's mom, he was angry and obsessed with completing his mission, so much so that he manipulated Diana into meeting him and running away with him. She became a liability for him.

I agree with your post however I got a question that maybe someone who was victim of sexual abuse themselves could help me to understand and I don't mean to sound ignorant to the topic. I honestly am just trying to understand it as I'm confused about something I have wanted to ask about. Wouldn't the molestation be traumatic too? The reason I ask is because it seems that from what the mom and family said that she acted the opposite that Diana actually got attached to him as well and always wanted to be with him. I don't understand that for me it doesn't make sense because one would think she wouldn't be attached that and that she'd act weird around him not want to be with him all the time. On Nancy Grace the other night the cousin named Nancy was on there she said JG would take Diana and the other kids to McDonalds and that they would go play but Diana always wanted to be with him. Is that how the grooming works? I don't know much about grooming but have seen people mention this.

Regarding the many Ohio references in this case... there are several photos on JG Facebook page that show crates of apples. Those jumped out at me when I saw them because stamped on the crates is the name Mac Queen Orchards. There is a place here in Ohio, near Toledo, called MacQueen's Orchards which has a big festival every year in October. They're pretty famous for their apple butter and cider. I'm wondering if those crates of apples are from the MacQueen's here.

I don't know that sexual abuse was the motive for Diana being taken. Given the the child found on the suspects phone it does seem the most likely possible motivator.

IIRC, JG and his brother lived with the bio Dad (and I guess DA' mother) for 5 years.... so, JG would've been around DA from the time she was just a toddler.

ETA: See Ticya' correction below, please. JG did not live with the family as long as stated above. Therefore, I am editing my post.

This is news to me! Guess I missed it when this came out.

Since JG had lived with the father before and possibly the mother before they separated, plus worked with the mother, one would think the parents knew something about him. Of course, one can only know what the other person tells, be it the truth or a made up story.

Knowing this adds a new dimension to the story. It isn't like JG was a stranger or unknown person that her mom and boyfriend took into their home. Having lived with them before for years, one would assume there had been no problems, so it was a win-win for Diana's mom and boyfriend as well as "old family friends".

I can't put my finger on it, as to why, but learning of this new factor, makes an already confusing story much more complicated! And in my line of thinking, even more horrendous!

Surely LE has checked with Mexican authorities to make sure Diana is not with her bio-father.

Then mom and dad separated and sometime last year JG met up with Diana's mother and boyfriend and they allowed him to move in with their family. So there was a gap. Not Diana's whole life. but yes, given he was a friend of sorts to her bio dad there may have been a level of trust there.

I have a question for our legal experts. Item 19 of the criminal complaint says the Samsung phone:

"is believed to be manufactured in China. As a result, the Samsung cellular phone traveled in and affecting interstate and foreign commerce."​

While I want the guy charged and imprisoned, the above seems convoluted to me. Charges are brought against people committing crimes while driving cars manufactured outside the US yet foreign commerce isn't invoked. From what I've read at the Dept of Justice, it was both necessary and reasonable to charge him under federal child statutes:

Federal jurisdiction is implicated if the child offense occurred in interstate or foreign commerce. This includes, for example, using the U.S. Mails or common carriers to transport child across state or international borders. Additionally, federal jurisdiction almost always applies when the Internet is used to commit a child violation. Even if the child image itself did not traveled across state or international borders, federal law may be implicated if the materials, such as the computer used to download the image or the CD Rom used to store the image, originated or previously traveled in interstate or foreign commerce.

Perhaps if the phone was purchased used from another individual. However, I think any reputable refurbisher would be sure to completely wipe the phone -- otherwise, he/she could potentially be charged with the distribution of child . JMHO

He was deported after entering illegally. His chances of getting around his ban for this are slim to none. (And any chance would most likely take a long process (like 2 years waiting) and an extremely competent lawyer.) If he's entered more than once, he's got a lifetime ban.

Well, they are investigating to see if it was taken in HER room. I think it is pretty safe to say that he didnt buy the phone with it on there. If I bought a phone with images like that, I would call the police. If I was afraid to call the police, I would at least delete them. Images have a date/ time/ and a GPS stamp on them, naturally. They will know where the image was taken.
