Was there really even a perp though?

dotr, that video with the parents makes it even more suspicious to me. Seems staged and set up, did ANYONE else witness this? Is there proof someone else was actually in the house?

July 24 2017 rbbm.
"The killer, who fled with cash and credit cards, left behind precious little evidence, in terms of fingerprints or DNA.

But during his attack on Amy, the man dropped the magazine from his pistol, which detectives quickly linked to a prop gun used in movies and theater productions.

Police also have a partial sketch of the dagger Amy’s parents described being stabbed with, which features an “ornate” hilt."
"After working their way through a dozen people who police initially believed could be responsible for the killing, cold case detectives say they have two “main suspects” — Dominic Kanuika, a short-order cook who had just moved to the area, and Scott Manley, who canceled a get-together with Amy on the night she was killed.

Neither of the men, whom police say are in prison on unrelated crimes, has been charged in connection with Amy’s death."

So no? No one else witnessed this, only the parents? Nothing adds up here. If there were a perp wearing a mask, why would he ask who else lived there? Then wait for a ride? He was robbing a house just for some money and credit cards on a Sunday night? If he just wanted money and credit cards he could have robbed anyone going into a gas station, restaurant etc. Then flip out when his ride shows up/sees headlights? Why would the Mom even say her daughter lived there? What perp asks if the cars are a stick shift? Then why run out and kill the daughter that the alleged perp didn’t even know about? This makes no sense.

dotr, that video certainly makes a case for potential suspects but still doesn’t rule out the parents. I see why they were looking at these potential suspects and maybe one of them is the perp but still I feel like they need to fully rule out the parents because there are many odd things about the case that don’t make sense. If the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office could eliminate the parents as a suspect, then great but until they do I will have some doubts. I also just found a thread on reddit that raises some questions too. My overwhelming question is did they rule out the parents???

Thinking that the parents were never considered poi , although sometimes a s/father is given closer look.......
Could it be that the perp/s had a connection of some sort, or previous relationship with him?
speculation, imo.

Yes, just what I was thinking now because that last video said two of the suspects stopped by the house randomly that night. I don’t know, it all goes back to motive. What was the motive? If one of the guys she was connected with romantically/socially wanted to kill her, then the entire crime scene and scenario doesn’t make sense. Of course this is all speculation. The things the parents said seemed crafted, thought out in an odd way, strange details, like it was so carefully planned that it was over-planned. I’m having a hard time believing the story as told by the parents. Why would you say you had a daughter to someone that broke into your home, asking who else lived there? Sonething isn’t right with this case.

If someone broke into someone's place and asked who else lived there, imo, a good answer might be " my 6'4'' son, the cop"ect.

I just heard about this case. The parents seem suspicious. Their description of the knife and how the intruder held it rang false to me. If it's not them are they covering for someone else?

Or my boyfriend who loves his guns and has an awful temper. That might not work if you have your husband present. I wouldn't mention a child specifically and I wouldn't want to scare someone with the threat of a cop. I'd go with we are expecting company. It seems odd that the husband/stepfather was the least injured. Maybe they were trying to get the guy out of the house but according to them they let him control the situation even though he seemed to be waiting for someone and nervous. He didn't take much. It seems so odd.

Who killed Amy Gellert?
brixiagun.jpg

The intruder was also armed with what turned out to be a prop gun, like this one made by Brixia. Brevard County Sheriff's Office
''As for the gun, it turned out not to be a lethal weapon at all. Investigators were able to identify it when a magazine was found at the scene. It's actually a prop made by Brixia that fires blanks and is used in the theater and movies''

"He had a black ski mask on... " Bob Lehton told investigators.

"He had on a black top, black pants, white tennis shoes and those gloves that have leather on the hands," Bunny Lehton added.

A black ski mask and gloves - all are items that would not be easy to obtain in Cocoa Beach, Florida, during spring break - when the attack took place.

"If you were gonna kill them, you don't need the mask, 'cause they're not gonna be able to identify you anyway," Goodyear said. "So is it someone they knew? Or was it somebody from the area that somebody might recognize if they saw them?"

"He was Caucasian. I think I picked that up on the contrast between the ski mask and his eyes," said Bob Lehton.

He was in his 20s, which would put him in his 40s now.

"Did the voice seem familiar in any way, that you had ever heard it before?" Moriarty asked.

Bunny Lehton shook her head "no," but says what she was struck by was his accent.

"I was very familiar with, you know, Maryland, Pennsylvania, kinda area, because that's what he sounded like to me," she said.''
