Reason given as to why the 16 year old was sent to stay at a relative of mom’s home?

I believe the safety of a younger child was stated as the issue.

So hard, to have a forced "choice" go on a cruise and have to share room with creepy step brother, or not go at all. I wonder if she had a choice? I probably wouldn't have gone.
TBH, I could imagine something like this:

‘You’re overreacting about your stepbrother.’
‘You just didn’t understand him, it was a joke’
‘You’re really going to ruin the family trip?’
‘We booked this trip to celebrate your graduation!’
‘You are being SO selfish right now.’

Coming from dad + ‘stepmom’. Just my two cents. She was only 18, after all.

I can’t help but think that the stepbrother’s behaviour was likely problematic for a long time and likely escalated while they were forced into such tight quarters. I do wonder if Anna’s not feeling well at the family meal that night was to get some space from him. Maybe she could do what she wanted all day and avoid him, but at nighttime and at meals, there he was. It breaks my heart to think she may have been uncomfortable or upset at that dinner and wanted to get away, and then things further escalated when he returned to the cabin. MOO still I cannot imagine not making sure my child was okay, even in her late teens.

So will they continue to try to determine the actual time of death, even though they've used that 11:17 time so far? And I agree that sounds like the time declared, not actual time of death.
I would like to think they would. It would be a crucial part of the timeline for their case against the step-brother.

At 18 she is considered an adult and could have stayed at the house without parental supervision like a minor would need to have.

Is it normal for them to wait this long before arresting, or at the very least, interrogating the 16 year old?

The perv stepbrother is the one who should have been made to stay home. I'm sure he has a relative who could have stayed with him.

IMO—-

Unless this step-MURDERER chooses to confess and explain, we will not know what prompted him into such a heinous act.

Anna wasn’t feeling well, she went back to their mutual room, TH entered the room at some point, Anna was killed and stuffed under the bed with a feeble attempt to hide her body beneath.

He left the room and obviously she didn’t.

What caused this????

Was there longstanding animosity between them due to the family dynamic? Did they have some kind of precipitating argument?

Did he have a burning crush on her and couldn’t resist and she fought him off at first, then he had to silence her?

Was he drunk? Was he high? Was he hallucinating?

The autopsy will give us the how, but only that piece of crap can tell us the why.

And so far the mommy, his actual mommy, is trying to shield him.

I dread that the whole “he is a minor” situation is going to protect him even further.

Just my musing.
I keep thinking that she was popular and people liked her and he was jealous as well as attracted to her, but even with step kids frequently vying for attention, outright murder is not what you would anticipate- really need to know more about him. (Thinking of the "boy" who killed the paddle boarder in ME recently.) Wonder if this step brother had some other issues. If he were thinking at all, he would know he would be found out, so he was not thinking IMO.

And to top it off her father booked a cabin for his daughter to stay in with her stepbrother after warning signs had been evident but HE DIDN’T WANT TO BELIEVE IT!

From the article you posted:

Westin went on to claim that his son tried to warn Kepner's parents, but they 'didn't want to believe me.'
Saw the video of the ex BF, he said he was 15, did I hear right?

Her ex speaks about how he was supposed to go on the cruise with her, but they broke up a few months prior to the trip. Also, some pics of people milling around outside of her celebration of live.

I'm interested in what Anna's 14 yr old brother, who was also sharing the same room as Anna and the 16 yr old step-brother, has to say about the dynamics in the room between Anna and the step-brother.

I'm not saying it's what happened here, but hospitalization means a person is protected by HIPAA laws and, while cooperating with law enforcement is an exception, there are certain circumstances under which that cooperation is allowed. Otherwise, medical facilities are not permitted to acknowledge the presence of any person without a release of information.

Considering that it appears this precious golden boy 🤢 was protected every step of the way along this path that led to him allegedly murdering his step-sister, it seems reasonable to think placing him behind some HIPAA protection would be consistent with the parent and step-parent's actions.
If I was Anna's father, the step brother suspect would have to be locked up where I couldn't get to him.

and indeed, it's reported that in her last tiktok video she ends by cryptically saying she wants to go home. seems like a good bet that was about her stepbrother.

I am still incredulous that they would make her share a room with the stepbrother, but maybe they thought the bio brother would act as a buffer between Anna and the stepbrother? That's not ok, IMO, but maybe that was their thought process.
