2013 Homicide
During June 14, 2013 the remains of an unidentified homicide victim was discovered along SR 70 just E of Turkey Hammock. Based on the scene the victim appears to have been transported to the location after death and possibly had been at the location for 2 months before discovery.
The victim is believed to be a Hispanic male, 25 to 50 years of age, 5’0″ in height and weighed approximately 140lbs. The unidentified victim was determined to have Klippel-Feil syndrome which is a disease causing the individual to appear as having no neck.
The photograph depicting the victim is from forensic facial reconstruction completed by LSU during 2015.
Anyone with information is asked to call The Criminal Investigations Division of The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office at (863) 993-4700 or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers 1-800-780-TIPS. You may remain anonymous and be subject to a reward.

Original

He wore a work uniform from New York, and per the detective for this case, they have located the former owner of the uniform. It's believed the victim obtained this uniform at a flea market, so it's kind of hard to determine who the buyer was.

What an unusual belt buckle. I’ve never seen anything like it.

DESOTO COUNTY - The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office is looking for help to identify a man whose body was found in a DeSoto County field two years ago.

Sheriff Will Wise said the body of a deceased man, believed to have been of Hispanic descent, was found June 14, 2013, 55 feet from the edge of State Road 70, east of Arcadia. He was described as being between the ages of 25 and 50; 4 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 3 inches tall; and weighing 120-150 pounds.

He was wearing a long-sleeved blue-and-white-striped work-type shirt with the name "Gary" and a company name, "Shore Mechanical Corp.," embroidered on it; along with gray pants, and a brown belt with a Virgin Mary belt buckle. The name of the company did not pan out as a lead, and the shirt was likely bought as a resale.

The man was believed to have died two to four weeks before his body was found. The autopsy revealed evidence of homicide, and it is possible he was killed at one location and then dumped at the S.R. 70 site.

He is noted to have Klippel-Feil syndrome, a genetic condition causing two or more neck vertebrae to fuse, which might have given him the appearance of having no neck. A laboratory, using the skull, re-created what the man may have looked like in life.

Anyone with information about who this man might be, or about his cause of death, is asked to contact DCSO Detective James Kirdy at 863-993-4700 or [email protected]

Right. Wouldn't you wear some sort of necklace with that type of logo and not a belt?

A woman yes but I’m not so sure about a man. Maybe he got the belt from the thrift store, like the clothing, thus it has no meaning in his case.

It could point to him likely being of Mexican origin. For example, maybe he's more likely to be from the Yucatan Peninsula than Cuba as far as proximity goes.

I think we need to share his image in local churches now, specifically in Arcadia and the neighboring cities, counties. We should also do Pima/Santa Cruz, Arizona (Gervasio Ajanel, a likely possible match might have lived there at one point) and East Moriches, New York (that's where the uniform came from).

I'm a little late but it's been 8 years since this dude was found...I pray that he gets his deserved name back and that whoever did this to him face justice.

I don’t see where the length or size of the belt is mentioned. If at his heaviest, 200-250lbs when he was wearing it, it had to be an XL or XXL size. If he weighted less, 150-200lb, it would be shorter, say an M or L size.

So he slipped into the country illegally or was a US citizen.

I thought I was really onto something a minute ago - however, what I found seems virtually impossible :(
