One photo shows a very blurry license plate. Perhaps they can’t make it clear enough to be readable. However, DMV records should be able to give them a short list of who is registered with that type of vehicle in that county. Most perps aren’t going to loiter or troll for victims far from home. JMO.

To be behind a plaza could mean an employee of a nearby business because who else would have a reason to be back there? Nowadays there’s a lot of homeless people living in the landscaping around plazas. I’m not sure how populated areas like that would have been back in 2018.
We don't really know of any solid facts surrounding her case. I mention this because as you say DMV records are available to LE and someone with that type of vehicle can be referenced and questioned. The only thing I can think of is maybe there were multiple trucks of the same sort so LE can't point to one particular person?

I would think, like you said, that technology would be able to give a clearer image of the license plate but I don’t think that’s the issue. The whole thing just doesn’t sit right. I think , and it’s just my opinion, that LE is holding back bc it took so long for the video to be released in the first place.

You’re right. There has never been any solid information given to the public. White pick up trucks in Florida are a dime a dozen but why hold the photo back for so long? Especially bc at one point LE stated the truck had been seen in the area and a nearby conservation area. One thing I’ve wondered is there are a lot of people experiencing homelessness that live in the woods back in that area. You also have a lot of people who may target people who seem like “easy” victims. What if it was a “Good Samaritan”, one that is familiar with the area and maybe even some of the regular people in the plaza? What if the intentions weren’t good? What if Suzy got in the truck bc she recognized the person?

LE mentions that truck frequents the conservation area. That means there has to be cameras that have captured the truck. Or, someone knows who is in that truck. I see the Quilted Giraffe is permanently closed.

There is a big intersection right there and probably has traffic cameras. When they mentioned that the truck was behind the plaza and exited at the opposite end. I would think that means the truck exited onto Oslo Rd. Then where did it go? Did it go west and turn north or south? Did it go east, out to the conservation area? It seems like cameras would tell the story. Are there no other clearer photos of the license plate? I wonder if they're holding back info too.

Yes, the restaurant is permanently closed. The husband closed it down and auctioned everything off shortly after Suzy’s disappearance. It was actually torn down thereafter
I agree with you. It’s just odd that in this day with all the cameras- heck, there’s a Publix in that plaza- that there’s no more information. Just sad bc there have been quite a few unsolved cases in the past few years in Vero and the surrounding areas that seem to have just fallen off the radar.

The person probably knows the area.

Although the original ones were blurry. So It might be atechnology issue.

I wonder if they will ever be able to solve this case? CCTV is right there at obviously some business behind the plaza? If it was a stolen license plate they would say so as they would want to find what happened to the person whose plates were stolen. So maybe its not a DMV issue. How about multiple people and LE can't tell who it is?

I wonder the same but, sadly, I’ll be surprised if they do at this point. I know that plaza isn’t the most up to date but I’d think there was CCTV somewhere. It’s all just very odd. I pray that LE is holding back bc if they’re not then they really have NO info. All they’ve said is she got in an unidentified white truck and has never been seen or heard from again. She wasn’t physically taken - the video doesn’t indicate a struggle- she is said to have dementia - I would think that would make her more fearful n if she was in the midst of an episode or more cautious if she was lucid- and no further information has ever been found. Doesn’t sit right.

Its obviously hard to say what her state of mind would be given dementia. But I see what you are saying that its possible she got in that vehicle with someone she knew. Well IMO if we consider that perhaps it was someone known to her, again given her dementia, how well did she know the individual or was it the first time she had seen the person and this unknown person offered her a ride but with knowing she would never return. I think IMO she may have been sheltered and only came accross a certain type of persons in her life that were trustworthy so she projected that onto everyone who may come accross her daily. As was mentioned in various media at the time. So possibly if it was someone unkown to her or it was someone known to her the dementia made her outlook more profound. But I do think your assumption is correct in that LE is holding back information and perhaps for good reason. I only hope that one day Suzy's case gets solved.

Thinking...I wonder if this person who picked her up...knew her from their restauarant and offered a ride to her destination?

*EDIT I noticed the FBI has her missing post under ViCAP Homicides and Sexual Assalt.
Also violent crime on the flyer.

I have been away and was curious if that is new.

Good question. I wish I knew. If anyone knows perhaps they can post and let us know. Thanks in advance.

However, then again I'm not surprised that her case is under ViCAP. I wonder if they have some clues to make her be placed under ViCAP. That is very disturbing and sad.

Oh my gosh… I think that’s new. Admittedly, I’m not an expert or LE but I don’t recall that being listed before. Missing/endangered is what I’ve always read. It might just be a technical description but it’s an interesting note. Thanks for sharing!

I hope its a technicality or "technical description." But its under ViCAP for a reason. I mean there could be other technical descriptions to be put under, but this is specifically used. So I think there is a reason for this.

Deputies said Friday they responded to an area near the Oslo Road boat ramp after a fisherman reported finding human remains.

Detectives later located the skeletal remains deep in the mangrove tree coastline about 150 yards north of Oslo Road.

Through personal items located near the remains, detectives said they believe the remains are Assunta "Susy" Tomassi.

Those mangroves are very thick and entwined. Sadly, it’s not surprising that is where her remains were found. You’re not allowed to trim mangroves over a certain size. They just keep getting thicker and stronger.

When out at the beach and parks, or even boating or paddle boarding, try to grab trash that gets caught in them, if you can.

I hope they can determine how she died. It’s not unusual to drown in shallow waters. Particularly for a disoriented person. This is the dry season. It is possible the water was finally shallow enough for her to be seen.
