MERRITT ISLAND _ Bernice Cunningham, 77, has not been seen since mid-October. She left behind her daily medication for heart problems, allergies and asthma. Her sister, Geraldine Morgan, said Mrs. Cunningham needs the medicine to survive. Mrs. Morgan last saw her sister on Oct. 16, when Mrs. Cunningham visited with her in Ocala. Mrs. Cunningham was preparing to move to Ocala to live near her sister, and the drive was supposed to be the last trip back to Merritt Island and her old two-story home. In the weeks since, investigators haven't been able to determine what has become of the 5-foot-3 woman.
WOMAN WAS RAPED, BEATEN, STRANGLED
Bernice Cunningham, 77, was reported missing after she failed to show up for a planned visit at 5 p.m. Monday at her sister's house in Ocala.

On Tuesday, police found her car in the driveway, her house at 124 Palmetto Ave. undisturbed and her purse missing. Daily medication she took for a heart condition had been left behind, police said.

"We hoped at first that she had gone with a friend and had forgotten to tell her relatives. But as time goes on, we get more and more concerned," said Brevard Sheriff's spokeswoman, Joan Heller.

"Because of her health problems and her age, she is considered to be in danger," said Heller.

Cunningham is described as white, with short, curly white hair and a fair complexion.

She is 5-feet, 3-inches, 128 pounds, and was last seen wearing a yellow shirt, beige pants, and brown shoes.

Deputies have distributed Cunningham's description to law enforcement agencies across the county in an effort to find her.

My questions: is it really feasible that something happened to her while walk-distance from her home and she wasn't eventually found? Or was she more likely abducted?
