I think they resemble one another, but the “tell” for me is AP’s eyes and upper cheeks “smile” when he smiles, while UID does not.

There have been several messages doubting the UID Adam Patterson (Namus ID 42783 at link: Missing Person's Commentary: New to NamUs - Adam Christopher Patterson (MP #42783)) but I am new and got a little carried away. I have found some additional info and pictures that I couldn’t ignore - some of which is admittedly very circumstantial.

Can anyone who has submitted the name to Collier please confirm? I am not really comfortable doing so like some of you more experienced users. Some of you also may quickly be able to debunk my findings.

Here are some photos for comparison:

Of interest to me:
1. AP has very little social media presence - followed less than 100 accounts - but did follow many android/microsoft/google app development accounts - although his professional life did not seem to use it (captain of charter boat/water taxi)
2. Followed a “big” developer from Brooklyn NY, first name Ben, last name not with a B
3. He and most all of his friends are VERY into hiking and camping (several started lifestyle brands in the industry). Can find several trips he was on but not ususally in pictures. Did not see any of the same gear from Mostly Harmless, but that is expected based on the nature of his disappearance
4. There was no visible drop off in normal activity prior to his disappearance other than the news article that said there were marriage “problems” 10 days before disappearance. Was involved in big projects and normal work.
5. Strangely - none of his close friends posted any sort of concern about his disappearance or memorial type stuff. Several, including SO, were out camping with friends just days after.
6. One close family member, 6 months after his disappearance, made a post about going through hard times and asked “What would anyone do if they knew they only had 365 days left to live? Would you tell loved ones, act like nothing was happening, or make a big change?”. The message does not seem to be related to anything else in their own life. (yes major assumption on my part)
7. Looks-wise, there are a few big things for me.
NOSE - The changing of the nose based on different angles - when you compare similar pics it helps. At similar angles the nostrils are very similar.
TEETH - in the pics at the link I posted, the teeth are VERY similar to the “composite”, which we know is very likely a direct photoshop of the body’s actual teeth. The Namus page also notes the quality of his teeth - a good justification for his young age (33) but his otherwise quickly changing appearance probably due to illness.
BEARD - beards are a huge tell for male identities. The pattern of where hair grows on a face does not change quickly, and more “bare” patches below the lips are a big match, as well as more filled in particular areas, like the mustache and directly below the bottom lip. The presence of a beard on his face also changes his general look pretty drastically.

Anyways, I realize a lot of this is probably just me looking for a match and I hope I didn’t break any rules. Both cases really drew me in and I feel like this community is doing a lot of good. Thanks for reading.

Adam Patterson is in NAMUS. The Sheriff fb has said in their recent replies to comments on their page that the UID is not anyone in the missing persons databases they have access to, including NAMUS. They have had their detectives searching the databases extensively since he was found. If the match you are suggesting is in NAMUS it has likely already been ruled out by LE at this point.

Really appreciate all your hard work! Glad I'm not the only one to seeing it.
Thanks for the new pictures, also. As they just confirm my thoughts about Adam Patterson being a viable candidate, regardless of his boat "accident".

Unfortunately, Collier County's Sheriffs Office is only looking for information from people who met Mostly Harmless on the trails. CCSO has stated that, they've searched within their parameters through every data base available.

Unfortunately, this also means that they very likely searched data bases within the 35 and up range. Making a potential match for 33 year old Adam Patterson less likely.

Hiya Gardener1850! I have a question, maybe you can answer. If the MP is 2 years younger than the UID age parameters given, will they still be checked against each other?
I wrote above that they likely would not...but I don't know for sure. And I don't want to put out misinformation.
Thanks!!!

As the Sheriff's office seems to be able to rule out possibilities so quickly, I wonder if there is some distinguishing mark or information that hasn't been shared that enables them to rule out so fast...Just a thought and not unheard of for information to be kept from public for identifying purposes

Hi coffeeandacig, I don't have any specific knowledge on how the NAMUS automatch suggestions are generated for LE but I don't think it is the same thing as when we search the database and give it a set range to search. One parameter being off should not knock the person out of their list if there are several other parameters that are similar. JMO.

Probably Dental records allow for a quick dismissal of many of the suggest missing persons. He had teeth in excellent condition. That may mean no cavities, no fillings, no gaps, etc. So if a MP has anything unique going on with their teeth they are easy to eliminate right away. They also may have his DNA in the system by now-- it has been over a month. We are no longer able to see the identifiers publicly but LE can see them. If the DNA was already entered and no possible matches came up that may be why they are saying they have already checked the databases. JMO.

Does a visible "rule out list" still exist on each NAMUS case?

It's OK to let a case get under your skin :) Your reasoning is very sound and Adam has quite a few obvious box-ticks. For me there is something about the nose that makes him a mis-match with our UID, but of course a nose is a very changeable part of the face.
I think there must be better photos of Adam out there that would allow a fuller comparison...are you able to link to any others? If he is on Namus, and although assumed deceased, I think any SM links would be OK by WS standards?
At the very least, perhaps we can start a thread for Adam...(I will get on it tomorrow unless somebody finds an existing and links it here :) )

The only rule out showing on NAMUS is Glen Oldfield. Adam had a circular scar on his back and a scar on his cheek.
Coincidentally? they both liked yellow. Harmless had a yellow tent and yellow sleeping bag. Adam wore a yellow tie and in another photo, a yellow tee.

Thanks for checking the ruleout list Classito.

Our unidentified hiker only had a faint scar on his stomach. So the lack of matching scars is another thing that rules Adam out IMO. We have many pictures of the UID, from all angles, so a scar on his cheek would be noticeable. JMO.

Reposting the video from Springer Mountain:
I think I can make out some of what the man with the GoPro is saying but volume is very low.
Some things I think I hear:

GoPro Man: "What my brother did is he had 100% of his food already packed in a duffle ... (at drop off points?)...

GP Man: "Is there enough stores along the route that you can hitchhike out to get supplies?"

GP Man: "I remember we were hiking... Going North it went straight up and there was a sign on the trail that said Jump up...That's the one thing I never got a picture of that I wish I did... Switchback?...

At the end of the video it sounds like GP Man is talking about a $6 burger and fries but I'm not sure if I'm hearing that correctly. o_O

Here are some enlarged/cropped screenshots of our unknown hiker from the video:

Thanks eucalyptuz, that sounds like a great idea.
Unfortunately there really aren't many pictures out there at all. Outside of the imgur album I made, there are only three others I can find - two from his Twitter and one from his Google account (very old) - all attached here. I looked extremely extensively into every option and friend I could find, and it really seems like they've either been scrubbed or he just wasn't a picture type of guy. Like I said, there is only one person in his entire circle that posted any sort of recognition that he had disappeared, and it was an Instagram account of a former employer (also friend) saying there was a Memorial Service planned. One of the photos I posted is cropped from that post.
Old pics again: Adam Patterson Imgur

As long as SM accounts are allowed for those considered deceased, here is my info. I am putting links to AP only, not the sources of the photos or other info I have found.
Twitter: www.twitter.com/cyclewiki
YouTube: Adam Patterson
Instagram: For two years he used the name of a company he worked for as his personal account. I would link it but it seems to have been "taken back" by the company a year or so after his disappearance. You can find it from his Twitter. Some tags of AP are still there from when it was his account.

Good point on the scar. I had considered that, but I am also not able to find any facial scar in photos of AP. I am also not sure if it's standard procedure for an autopsy to shave the face of a UID body. Since the scar is supposed to be on a cheek, it would very likely be under the large beard.

So far the only rule on on NAMUS is Glen Oldfield, however the Sheriff fb has directly responded on several suggestions on their page saying -- " That is not the decedent".
Most of these responses are found here: Collier County Sheriff's Office

I'm going to work on compiling a list from the fb page so that we don't keep repeating suggestions LE have already ruled out:

Ruled out:
Glen Oldfield (ruled out on UID's NAMUS page)
Kyle Leigh Art
Robert Wayne Roush
Jeffrey Alan Boughton
Michael Robinson
Joel Matthew Thompson
Kris Fowler
Trevor Nichols

Other MP's suggested on fb page (but Sheriff has not replied yet):
David William Blake
Joshua Wellman (a family member did reply that this is not him)
Joshua Scott
Eric Daniel Prueitt
Christopher King
Bradley Allen (a family member replied it is not him)
Shane Michael Fell
Patrick Lee Ghering
Derek Lueking (his mother replied it is not him)

Ok, I'm out of time for now. I have read through most of the comments but please add to the above rule out list if you see others that have been proposed on the fb page (or if you have sent in a name and received a response). Thanks!

This guy really reminds me of kris fowler.

Eta, I know it's not but he just looks so similar.
