Found Safe FL - Boy, 2, missing while parents slept, Brooksville, Hernando County, Feb 2023

If someone dropped JJ off while his caregiver/mom/whatever were asleep, that's insane to me. I could never feel comfortable just dropping a 2.5 year old off with a sleeping person then just dipping. If that's what happened. I want to reserve my judgement mostly. It's just something that popped out to me.

There's something that feels 'off'; imo.
Either misreporting from msm -- or the person dropping off JR really did leave when the adults were asleep ?

This also feels really 'off' to me. I can't imagine handing over custody of a baby or toddler to another adult while they're asleep and not waking them up to make sure they know the baby is home and I'm leaving, so they're 'on duty' now.

I agree, that story certainly makes me uncomfortable. I also just posted my concerns about the quarter mile search as well. Isn’t it usually 2 miles? 2-year-old Noah Chamberlin was found 1.5 miles from where he was last seem. And we’ve had cases where small children were even further away.

The toddler likely wouldn't have crossed the highways without being seen.

A parent or caregiver cannot be asleep when in charge of a toddler, outside of normal night time schedules.
It sounds odd that the adults were asleep around 9:45 am, and did not awake even when JR was left with them ?

I'm also a little hung up on him being asleep at that time-if he fell asleep on the assumed car ride home, ok, but I feel like he'd most likely awaken when being taken inside. An infant could stay asleep, but a busy toddler boy...?

The small area is the focus of the dogs and the mounted posse. They are coordinating volunteers to search beyond this area. I keep getting notifications to check camera and property (I am not in the immediate area, but they are sending them out county wide), specifically in sheds, cars, under cars, etc. It says check multiple times. This gives me the feeling he may like to hide..?
The HCSO has done well with their FLIR camera in searches before. I hope they are able to find him hiding somewhere.

Of course, we don't know exactly how that happened. A parent may have rolled over and acknowledged the arrival of their child and then fell right back to sleep. Perhaps the wee lad had gone to day care, but was unexpectedly brought back home again. Maybe he hurt himself at daycare which is why he had a swollen lip. We haven't been told all that happened, except that the boy is missing. So yeah, reserving judgement at this point is prudent.

I understand. I was just stating my opinion about that part, if it is true. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was saying that it's true. It's just that if that is what happened, that's crazy to me. That's all I meant.

My initial reaction to the caregiver placing him next to Mum is that it may have been the Dad. Maybe he worked at 11-12 and had to leave, he had been up with JJ since 6 (I have 5 kids aged 29-9, I know they like to get up at 6 am ha), and Mum had worked nights, JJ had fallen asleep (Morning nap), and he carried him to the bedroom, said ' JJ's here with you I have to go to work' and got a sleepy 'ok'. Dad goes to work, and Mum goes back to sleep, knowing JJ is sleeping next to her...
