Surveillance video just showed Tracy Ferriter open box room, say something to her son, then snap "what's wrong with you?" before leaving. Its hard to see but it looks like she dropped off his breakfast. He testified it was usually peanut butter and bread.

Video showed nighttime - toddler brother comes in and plays on the teen's bed - Tracy is animated with the baby, unlike her sharp demeanor with teen. Teen says "goodnight, P," and the other two leave, closing the locked door

[snipped by me]

I can't believe she's getting the see this whole case laid out. She not only sees the state's case which will likely be very similar, though not identical, but she has all this time to adjust her narrative, tweak her own defense all depending on what her husband's attorneys say about her role; and after hearing all of the testimony of these children, including her victim. That doesn't sit well with me. I wonder if local people who may be in the community from which her jury will be pulled are thinking about this.

Yep, agreed. TraF tasking her notes in preparation for her own defense, she shouldn’t be permitted to attend trial, imo.

Judge Coates just reminded everyone that no one except media, attorneys and the legal teams can use phones or electronics in court -its unclear what Tracy Ferriter is doing on her laptop and what pictures the other woman is taking

TraF also used cellular phone in court earlier, just saying... moo

DAY 2 – 10/4/23

  • Prosecution’s case continues with cross examination of FF.
  • RF, the alleged victim, says being locked up was “dehumanizing” but called what his parents did a “mistake” and said it was time to forgive and move on.
  • RF admitted to hacking, stealing, bullying, and conniving his way into situations that disturbed and upset his parents.
  • Ring video obtained by search warrant shows Tracy and Tim Ferriter yelling and tossing RF’s cell-like room accusing him of stealing chocolate (audio only).
  • FF, RF’s sister, said at one point she feared her father would accidentally kill her brother.
  • State is expected to rest midday Thursday.
  • Defense has three civilian witnesses and one expert in their case.
  • If the defendant elects to testify, the case will likely spill over to next Tuesday.
  • Court is dark Monday.
  • If the trial spills over to the following week, one of the jurors will be replaced by an alternate, as the juror has travel plans.

Dr. Myers' testimony (imo) valuable! He has been testifying (for the State) most of the afternoon.

I find this thread very interesting. Everyone seems to agree that what these parents did to their son is deplorable, and a form of child abuse, and I definitely don't disagree. What I do find intriguing is that if the child was a defendant instead of the victim, lots of us all over WS would be calling for him to be locked up exactly like this, the only real difference being that he would not be locked in the dark.
Obviously I am over simplifying it, but I hope you understand what I mean.

If you don't count the alleged beating, then how is this much different to prison?, which is where many people call for 14 Yr old children to be.

To be clear, I have no time for how these parents treated their son.
Good point. I firmly believe children under 18 who commit crimes should be primed for rehabilitation, and that's the case in most first world countries. America is extremely harsh on juvenile offenders.

I cannot believe they're still allowed in the court room after that. Friend of TrF blatantly took photos of the victim or whomever was on the witness stand, TrF was typing away on her laptop likely making notes for her own defense. Is this really allowed?! ... I know our justice system is flawed but I am really surprised they're allowed to stay in there after this

I am enjoying his testimony. He has very wise things to say on social and cognitive deprivation, the difference between punishment and discipline, etc.

"It's malicious, it's cruel," Child psychologist Dr. Wade Myers from Brown University watched the videos of boy confined in the box room and says it was tortuous, solitary confinement and trauma inducing
