Circumstances fit, although there's no indication that John Morford has a British accent.

However, the height (5'7" vs 6'0") is quite different and it's unlikely that a British person in Florida would be homeless... possible but how easy would it be to operate as an illegal immigrant? I can't see any way to be legally homeless in a foreign country - although of course someone could have dual nationality, have obtained citizenship and then had a business fail, etc...

Just wanted to clear a couple things up. John Morford is my cousin. He was not homeless when he disappeared. He was living with his sister Shellie. However he did have friends in the homeless community because at one time he was. He could relate to them. He was from NW Michigan originally so I could see someone saying he had an accent. I so wish he'd be found. We all miss him dearly.

I see on your cousin's NamUS page that his dna is not available. If he has a suitable relative they should be tested and the data entered into CODIS. Law enforcement varies a lot, some are very good at what they do and some are frankly pretty lazy. I would not take no for an answer. If they tell you it has already been done point out what NamUS says.
I could not imagine a NW Michigan accent being interpreted as British. Have you contacted the people in charge of the Ft. Myers case?

As for John Batchelor, I am familiar with the area where his boat was anchored, the shallows off the West End of GBI. The Florida Straits are where the Gulf Stream is pinched and is very rapid. If any component of the wind is from the north, opposing the stream, the sea can get whipped up horribly and the boat could look as if it had been ransacked afterwards. If he fell overboard, next stop the British Isles....
