Something about the description of his attire made me think gay as well. That said, there is a certain type of "romeo" character that is very much hetero but dresses very cheese-ball, larry the lounge lizard. These were the guys back in the day that wore tight angel flight pants, polyester disco shirts open to their waist, platform shoes, and lots and lots of cologne. If he considered himself a "ladies man" this type of attire would be consistent with that.

Everybody dressed like that in the 80's.

Okay, that's a slight exaggeration...but yeah, it was just what was in style.

Mark Michael Peter Mayhew who went missing from Sturgeon Falls, Ontario in 1973 got my attention because of the fact that he wears dentures and a resemblance to the unidentified guy from Florida. I'm not sure if too much time has passed between when Mr. Mayhew went missing and when the UID was found.

As far as I can tell, there are no updates on this UID's case.

Was that rest stop known for homosexual activity? For those more naive, there are rest stops, truck stops, college public bathrooms, etc. where gays were known to frequent, to 'meet' other likeminded people. Same goes with pedophiles, heterosexuals, prostitutes, etc. Some of those looking for sex didn't stick to the ones marketing it, and would drag unwilling victims to their vehicle, etc. It could and can be a dangerous place out there for the ones not in the know of it.

Sadly, I think that is exactly what we are dealing with here. In my opinion this was a hate crime. Either someone had heard that this was going on there and decided to do something about it or the victim simply propositioned the wrong person. South Florida is known as a very cosmopolitan and international place but there are pockets where you are very much in the deep south if you know what I mean. Holiday park is right there. It's a haven fot the "good 'ol boy" types even now so back in '84 even more so.

The body of a white man with a black mustache and a full set of dentures was found June 13 along U.S. 27 about a quarter-mile south of Griffin Road. Police believe he was killed about 24 hours before.

He was five-foot-five and 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He wore a black, knee-length bathrobe with gray trim and white short pants. He wore a gold-color ring with a red stone.
