A Florida AMBER Alert has been issued for Caden Speight, 17, of Dunnellon.

A Florida AMBER Alert has been issued for Caden Speight, 17, of Dunnellon. Sheriff’s deputies confirm his disappearance is connected to a shooting that happened Thursday afternoon.

Officials say Caden may be in the company of four unknown males, possibly Hispanic. They may be traveling in a light-colored van.

Wait what? This is highly unusual, what are we looking at here? It doesn’t say kidnapping or abduction. But it sort of sounds like one, or at the least a targeted attack?

The Marion County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to FOX 35 that deputies were investigating a shooting in the same area and believe Speight may be a victim.

Investigators said authorities received a call about a possible shooting around 4 p.m. on Thursday. Deputies arrived at the scene and located Speight's vehicle, but the teenager was not there. They proceeded to check with area hospitals but have not been able to locate Speight.

It looks as though from family post they live on a farm. Is it a farm that is a small farm that is just family, or do they have employees? Wondering if somebody had it out for the family? It seems weird to be random unless it’s some random road rage kind of situation. Was he going home from school? It would be interesting to know what his plant destination was as well… Hoping of course, as usual that there would be a number of cameras in the area.

I don’t know if he made the 911 call or if family did after he sent the mom a text saying that he was shot and needed help… They have not released a lot of information at this point. I’m interested to know if there was blood found at the scene where the van was found or his phone was found.

If you look up that area on google maps, it looks like horse farm country. I wonder who heard/saw something?

There is one cross road (SW 128th Ave) that dead ends into the highway on this block, so I wonder if the young man was stopped at the stop sign on that road when this happened?
