My issue is she was mentally unstable and should not have been allowed to purchase a gun.
Someone suggested that information from doctors be allowed to be linked to the background checks, to me that sounds like a really good idea.
Just because she was law abiding and "sane acting" does not make it OK.
Not arguing with you about gun rights, just saying there needs to be a screening process that is more equipped to vet people like JS.

ETA- I think I did put the blame where it belongs.....on screening/background checks.

Background checks only flag individuals that have been "titled out" because that process involves involuntary hospitalization, no less than a 72 hour hold in the facility, evaluations by 3 psychiatrists, and court hearings to find whether an individual is a threat to themselves and/or others, and can be released safely back into the community. (That's Arizona, may be different in other States......)
I believe all of JS's hospitalizations were "voluntary".

It is my very firm opinion that none of her "illnesses" meet the definition of Insanity. If this were true; everyone with Bi Polar and Maj Depr/Mania would be insane. Anyone with TD would be insane. Anyone with Psychotic features, insane. And this is just so far from the truth that her defense and her def team sicken me. They do; and I can't help but be honest and write it. TD is a NEUROLOGICAL CONDITION in the brain. IT HAS NOTHING to do with Mental Illness; or Insanity. Not in any way. Her defense teams opening statements sickened me. Her behaviour in the courtroom sickens me, and her Male Def Atty has now positioned himself at her side; so that we and the cameraman cannot see her actions as well. What Games. Suffice it to say following this trial is proving difficult for me.

If you reads the documents/emails she also was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder. Your right many have these disorders and are on the right meds and don't massacre their children and shoot there son in the head while driving down the street because mom thought he was tying his shoe.

Her relationship with her daughter was very strained, and her son was turning on her as well. Family members were notified by PS through emails that she had worsened. PS was about ready to throw in the towel and she was losing everyone. According to his emails leading up to the murders she was extremely depressed in bed almost 24/7. He did not know how to help her. I think these triggers and others made her go over the top into a psychotic break. Murder suicides. They happen everyday. I believe someone has to be temporarily insane to murder their own family.

This reminds me so much of the Andrea Yates case and how Rusty her husband struggled dealing with her mental illness/ chronic depression/ bi-polar/ schizoaffective disorder.

That "uneasy" on her feet comment reminds me of the email Parker sent to her doc on Dec. 31 -- "in bed 24/7 for past 5 weeks...her energy seems to be non-existent, her memory is shot, and her balance is way off...she's been falling quite a bit lately"
