I'd like to thank the greater Tampa Bay area for their love and support...

...having participated in the legal system over the last 3 weeks has confirmed the fairness of the legal system

...today's decision, for many reasons, gives me and my family a great sense of relief, as I've consistently mentioned over the past 3 years, the most important thing in all of this is Calyx and Beau -- my lovely children, my smart, beautiful, loved and missed daughter and son. Giving voice to them has been my priority throughout this entire process. And their voices have been heard.

...while this decision does not bring my children back, it does give my family a chance to move forward, and honor their memory, and remember how they lived

PS statement.

Personally thanks DA, for their work and treatment of his family.
He saw his job as giving his "smart, beautiful" children a voice.
Says the sentence brings his family relief.
Thanks students, parents, faculty of the high school.

"It does give our family an opportunity to move forward..."

This man has such grace in the way he is handling this.

Was that his mother standing with him?

Yes, heart wrenching....

But I also notice she did not really say "sorry" for killing the kids.
Or that she wishes she hadn't, or regrets it.

She says sorry to all affected by her killing them.

Gotta keep turning that spotlight back onto her face.

Retired Colonel is a trained communicator and made very heartfelt comments. JS may have been less eloquent given her addled mental state but her comments were meant to be heartfelt as well. I really do believe that she loved her husband and was a dedicated military wife for life and that the reality that her marriage was over was too much to bear.

She did apologize for destroying lives.

Tried to get it all...

PS and Mother together in front of camera. Just reading statement and not taking questions.
perhaps tomorrow may do longer reading.

So, first of all I'd like to thank the Greater TB community for your love and support for C and B throughout the past 3 years. It's been a trying time for all of us and you've continued to honor us with your kindness.

I'll start with what i've said many times. is that I've defended our justice system for nearly 30 years and i deeply believe that we have the best system in the world. Having participated in the process over the last 3 weeks has confirmed the fairness of the legal system.
I'd also like to personally thank the Sts attny's office for their untiring efforts to represent the people of FL in this case. Since the beginning of the process that my family and I were always kept up to date and well cared for by the Victims Assistance office.

Today's decision for many reasons gives my family a sense of relief.

As I have mentioned over the past 3 years the most important thing in all of this is C and B, my lovely children, my smart, beautiful, loved and missed daughter and son.

Giving voices to them has been my priority throughout this entire process voices have been heard due to the efforts of many.

I'd also be remiss if I didn't thank the students, parents, and faculty of King HS and Liberty MS for their continued support.

although this doesn't bring them back, it does give our family an opportunity to move forward and honor their memory with important work with Calyx and Beau Memorial Fund and remembering how they lived.

thank you

I am eagerly awaiting an interview with some of the jurors. I bet they went in the room, elected a foreperson, talked over the charges for a bit, held a first round vote, and found they were all in agreement.

Florida is one weird state: they named the jurors in open court. Holy cow. I would not want to be a juror on a gang-bangers or mob guys trial and have my name read out loud. That is nuts.

Just leave 'em a Post-It Note at the defense table saying you've " gone to NYC, be back Tues.". That should buy you enough time to plan your escape from the jury box.

OMG a juror is already talking to Nancy Grace on the phone!

Live on HLN.

Male Juror

Says evidence was overwhelming..Journal was full of hate, well thought out. You could tell she was planning how she was going to do it. Defense never proved that she didn't know right from wrong. The whole thing was a sad, sad case.

Feels it was premeditated. C and B didn't deserve what they got. it's a shame she didn't get help long before it happened. He's not sure she got the right kind of help.

When looking at JS, he saw a person who is really mentally sick, and she's on full meds, but seemed to break down a few times. she seemed to be in control of her self, taking notes and following the case quite well. She's a very intelligent woman, and there's a lot of demons going around in that head of hers.

he thought she knew what she was doing. She was depressed and he's not sure she could handle those two kids, not sure what the home life was like.
She just couldn't take it anymore and he doesn't know how much she wanted to kill herself. she had the chance to do it, but didn't take it.

He thinks everyone on jury was on the same page. They had discussion about what could have been going on in her mind at the time of the crime.
the shot in the mouth was something significant. the "mouthy mouth" comment..etc.
just showed hate.

Shooting the kids in the mouth showed them hatred - that was a big point of the jury's discussion. It was something they discussed to make sure they were making the right decision.

Alcohol didn't really come in to play in his opinion. He feels instead of rehab, she should have been committed to a mental institution, and all of this could have been prevented/avoided.

Defense brought up good points, but in the end they felt she knew what she was doing.

I have to run out, but wanted to type out what he was saying. Seems they were spot on to how some of us were feeling here.

Just wanted to say thanks to the jurors. This was an especially difficult decision.
