In many states kids must pass basic standards tests to graduate from h.s. Usually these tests are in core classes like English, math, social studies, science. Right now schools are taking core teaching time away from students to teach safe sex and drug abstinences; schools are also conducting remedial classes, English learning classes, preparing kids to take the ACT/SAT (special classes). Many schools also allow kids to leave class to pray (Muslim) daily. Kids are pulled from class for special counseling with social problems, evalutions. Would you believe kids are pulled from class within ethnic groups? (Hmong, African American, etc.) I understand the concern for child safety, but how can another burden be placed on schools? It is a family responsibility to teach your child how to be safe. And parents wonder why kids can learn.

Bailey1, I too wonder why the perp hasn't been caught. The video is clear enough for someone who knows him to be able to ID him, or at least report that they think it might be that person. My bet is that at least a few people recognized him, but for some reason, decided not to come forward.

I read the article about why they delayed the amber alert, but I just question whether that part of the criteria is really a valid one- that the child's life needs to be believed that she is in danger.
The child is 11 years old. She was not where she said she was going to be, and nobody who knew her knew where she was. Even if she were a runaway-it is safe to assume her life is in danger. At 11 years old all she is- is bait for a predator regardless of whether she was abducted or a runaway. If she was not with a family member or friend- I think it was reasonable from that point on that she was in danger.
I am disappointed with the interpretation of this particular bullet point of the amber alert criteria.

Could it have possible that this man wore these type of clothes intentionally? After reading some posts saying that it seemed he was holding a cell phone, perhaps this was the way he planned to abduct? Abduction ploy?

Could be one of the reasons she "seemed" calm or at the very least, confused and didn't fight.
Name on shirt may not mean anything. Perhaps close-ups of his face and arms are being cleared up by NASA for identification of this _______. Fill in the blank with whatever fits for you. (I know I did, but I didn't want to get in trouble.)

The kidnapper who apparently took Karlie Brucia by the wrist and led her away sure resembles Karlie's step-father, Steve Kansler, in the only picture I've seen of him. Also, even though she stepped aside to avoid the guy, the way Karlie submitted to the kidnapper without a fight sends up a red flag for me.

CNN just said they've had him since 1:30 pm YESTERDAY!!! Tell me I didn't hear that right. If it's true, I agree, things don't look too good for Carlie. If they've had him that long and they don't know where she is yet then he isn't talking. I swear they should legalize sodium pentathal (sp?) in situations like these.
I'm holding out hope she was placed somewhere alive, can't get out and the police will find her soon.
