Susan Schorpen, the mother of Carlie Brucia, was arrested in St. Petersburg Thursday on drug and prostitution charges.

St. Petersburg police arrested Schorpen about 10 p.m. during an anti-prostitution operation in the north downtown area. Officers saw her walking up to cars, attracting the attention of drivers and getting into one vehicle, police reports state.

Officers later stopped Schorpen, 36, in a car and arrested her. She was booked into the Pinellas County jail on charges of possession of crack cocaine and committing acts facilitating prostitution.

Schorpen, who has fought drug addiction for years, was being held there Friday in lieu of $5,250 bail.

Stabbing at Schorpen house leads to lawsuit

A Sarasota woman and her son, who almost died after he was stabbed at the house where Carlie Brucia lived, are suing the state attorney's office for not prosecuting his attacker.

Prosecutors declined to prosecute Kenneth Cudzilo, 35, for aggravated battery, saying they can't prove the stabbing wasn't in self-defense.

She also alleges in the suit that Schorpen and her friend, Connie Arnold, conspired to have Rob Ziruolo killed because Schorpen found Rob Ziruolo, a former boyfriend of Schorpen, reading Carlie's diary, in which the girl reportedly wrote about sexual abuse and her mother's drug activities.

If this is true she likely has a lot of guilt right now. She needs rehab and counceling, long term. And she should not be raising any children.
I feel sorry for her and know her grief must be enormous but she did not need to be raising children.

St. Petersburg, Florida - Susan Schorpen, the mother of slain 11-year-old Carlie Brucia, was arrested just after midnight on 4th Street North in Saint Petersburg. Schorpen is charged with posession of crack cocaine and "facility prostitution."

The facility prostitution charge means she initiated an amount and a prostitution act to an undercover police officer.

Schorpen is scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.

Kurt has a VOP hearing on February 22. The original charge was DUI.

For what it is worth, I cannot think of a rehab facility here that meets the criteria of what Sue so desperately needs, so she probably just went through the detox motions and hit the streets running. This story goes beyong heartbreaking.

I read somewhere soon after Carlie was murdered that she'd taken a locket with Carlies picture in it and sold it for drug money, i had/have so hope that was just a terrible lie-

Carlie had a younger brother , i wonder where he is now? SO sad all way around!

Well the authorities have finally found her...

ST. PETERSBURG - Susan Schorpen's life took another tragic twist Thursday when she was arrested by St. Petersburg Police on a prostitution charge.

According to a SPPD report Schorpen, 36, had cocaine residue and a crack pipe in her possession. She allegedly exposed herself to an undercover officer working a prostitution sting at approximately 10 pm.

She needs all the prayer she can get. I feel so incredibly sorry for her.

Amen, I pray she gets the help she needs. This is such a major symptom of her paralyzing grief.

I hope someone with the means ($$) and knowledge of drug abuse will read of her problems and step forward to help her--get her into a good rehab facility. Since she has hit rock bottom, IMO, maybe she is ready to accept that she needs help. I feel sorry for her, but she has to want to get better and be willing to make life changes for that to happen. Very sad situation.

I so wish she gets some help. I know she had a problem before the tragedy of Carlie's murder but I can't help but think she must now be in a blackhole of hell I can't begin to understand. I pray for her and I hope somebody can step in and get her into a good program. Dr Phil maybe?
