Circumstances of Disappearance
Woolsoncroft was last seen in Fort Myers, FL on August 7, 1984.
She graduated from Cape Coral high school and was working at Raffles Restaurant in the the Edison Mall. That's where she met her then boyfriend. She disappeared on the day she has planned to break up with him.

So strange that an infant was found instead! I don't really believe in psychics (I believe in ESP and feelings though). So for her to say where she was and they found someone else, made me think wow, what a coincidence! Unless the psychic had a good feeling and she's an actual legit one and just got things mixed up. Hope she is found one day.

There seems surprisingly little information out there on this case (such as the detail at the time of disappearance - time, clothing, anything missing from her home etc). Looking briefly I did wonder about the following Jane Doe - https://identifyus.org/en/cases/4510 - from the Houston area, found in skeletal condition nearly 5 months after the disappearance and with the known data (age, height, colour of hair, race) matching. Also, no match would have been made on NAMUS given the lack of DNA for the Jane Doe. The Jane Doe seems to have been travelling, probably came from a good background given her clothes etc and Houston would be a reasonable route if someone was going across country from Florida to the West coast. Perhaps not a coincidence (and maybe unrelated to this case. See the quote below from the Bonita Banner (which I assume was a local paper);

"Her badly decomposed body was found following an anonymous tip............Detectives were wondering if the caller intended solely to lure them to the tiny body"

It seems they think a mother whose baby died (perhaps a single mother who gave birth without assistance) used the Woolsoncroft case as cover to have her baby's body found.

Looks like Carol has been ruled out for the Mount Vernon Jane Doe. That surprises me -- I would've bet money on it being her. I wonder where she could be? It's been 32 years...

Yesterday, Carol's Charley Project page was updated. Lots of new info, including the fact that her missing date is different than originally stated (she was reported the 7th but went missing the 4th.)

It really looks like she was killed by this guy now -- he also was suspected of murdering 3 people in New York state, and was in and out of jail up there for robbery. Also, as Charley Project stated, he also raped a 15 year old girl before he knew Carol. He passed away last December, so I guess we will never know.
