ME's "undetermined" manner of death is indeed a stumbling block but this is where investigators need to pick up the pace with the circumstantial evidence. Of course, undetermined is the flashing light for reasonable doubt.

I just saw this last week (Dateline) in the 2015 death of Susan Winters where her death was changed from suicide to homicide.

Let's just hope that there is some evidence we don't know of yet so they can at least charge him with manslaughter. JMO.

I certainly don’t think she died of natural causes! This is unbelievable!

And neither does the Medical Examiner!

Today, I'm really curious about who attended the death scene-- in TN, I think(?), who completed the autopsy, and where.

Especially when all is contrary to the statements directly from the county Sheriff.

Duty Ron will discuss this more in depth later this evening.

This is a defense attorney's dream. But let us remember she was found in a shallow grave.

Yes! The "undetermined" cause of death is understandable but how do the shallow grave and all the circumstantial evidence known thus far not warrant the manner of death as a homicide? o_O

Maybe the family needs someone else to do an autopsy as a second opinion. If that’s allowed. This evil devil needs to be put in a cell for life so his little girl can grow up safe. If they don’t terminate his parental rights, he will poison that child’s mind.

Can her family request another autopsy? I don't think I've ever followed a case where that's been done.

She has been cremated.

More than six months later, St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell told Fox News Digital Carli had no obvious signs of trauma to her body, and the manner and cause of death were deemed "undetermined."

"At this point, they cannot determine what she died from," Russell said. "At this point, we do not know what her cause of death was."
Slain Florida mother Cassie Carli's cause, manner of death ruled 'undetermined' 6 months later

heartbroken for her family. This must be so frustrating for them. We all know Marcus killed her and then disposed of the body. But will he ever face the consequences for these acts? That remains to be seen.

If they can't convict MS, I am worried he will regain custody of his daughter at some point. CC's family must be beside themselves with grief and worry.

MOO.

Family court is civil court, and uses different standards of evidence than criminal court. (Remember that in civil court, OJ Simpson was found to be responsible for the deaths of his ex-wife & her friend, after criminal court found him Not Guilty.)

I do hope the Carli's have skilled family law attorneys, and their family court circuit has plenty of questions about how Ms. Carli's remains came to be in a shallow grave on property controlled by MS' family, after MS is acknowledged to be the last person in contact with her.

Good points. Thank you. I am keeping my fingers crossed that CC's family prevails if MS ever pursues regaining custody.

Wonder if we have any Alabama posters who could be in the courtroom???

Family court can, & should be, closed for this one imho.
